How's Spain? There's a new guy from Spain in my department. I don't know him well yet but he seems very cool. He says "quite possibly" and "quite probably" a lot - it's kind of funny.
Barcelona is great. I love the city--sometimes I feel like I could spend the rest of my life here. Getting accustomed to the program and living with a host family is proving to be a bit hard at first, but I'm sure it just takes time.
I think you might find Catalunyans to be interesting, qua a small linguistic community with a lot of pride. (Some actually want Catalunya to separate from the Spanish government.)
