A quote is coming to mind:

"When you love someone, you open yourself up to suffering. That's the sad truth. Maybe they'll break your heart, maybe you'll break their heart and never be able to look at yourself in the same way. Those are the risks. The thought of losing so much control over personal happiness is unbearable. That's the burden. Like wings, they have weight, we feel that weight on our backs, but they are a burden that lifts us. Burdens which allow us to fly."

While that quote is aimed more at romantic relationships and the inherent risks - it's applicable to the many different things in life which can weigh us down. All the various things which feel they inhibit your freedom also allow you to fly through areas of life which are otherwise difficult to travel through.

This is how I cope with that feeling like I'm staked to the ground: viewing that feeling of being pinned as a feeling of weight, and then imagining what awesome thing (wings, a rocket pack, etc.) are the source of that weight.
