As someone who had amazingly good and amazingly bad experiences with Nokia and samsung, htc, etc - I can honestly say that there is no phone in the world (edit: in north america) that has as many features, works as flawlessly, is as user-friendly, and powerful as an iPhone.

e71 is nice, symbian is nice, and overall it might be better for business-friendly environment, it doesn't touch the iPhone for the average user-friendliness and media rich environment we live in.

Wired cracks me up, see their closing statement about the e71 : TIRED: No standard 3.5mm headphone jack. 3.2-megapixel camera's optics could be better. LED flash could be way better. N-Gage gaming platform not available. Screen's wide, but not wide enough to do a feature-length film justice. For $500, you could get TWO 8-GB, 3G JesusPhones (with $100 left over to put toward AT&T's data plan).

Yes the e71 is nice.. Sitting next to the iphone, my friend's iphone seemed little more then a paperweight.. Even she couldn't help but poke fun at her iphone after playing around with my e71.

And about the screen... Yeah it is a bit small but it is crystal clear and beautiful the iphone screen looks like a cheap imitation...

Also not an iPhone fan. They're shitty as, you know, actual phones. But the iPod Touch is a nice upgrade from the old iPod design/interface. You get everything that the iPhone is good at, without the junky phone segment. Pair with your smartphone of choice for winning combination.

why not just buy the ipod touch?

That's my point. Buy the iPod Touch for all of the media/entertainment/etc. functionality of the iPhone, get a real smartphone like yours for the phone functionality.
