Dean had been watching his Sam watching Blondie all weekend. It was worse than boring. Keith had not spent, so far, all that much time away from his comatose daughter; it was fortunate that he lived on the same floor, so that even when he did finally have to sleep, it wouldn't be that far away.

This trip away, however, had been to fetch some more water, both for Veronica and for those watching over her. He nodded to Dean, said sombrely, "Hey, Dean," and then started to step around him.

"Hey," Papa Blondie, "Ah... Mr. Mars," Dean said, edging into the other man's way as much as he felt he could without risking bodily harm. "Just thought it might be a good idea to... you know - maybe get some air? Walk around? Make sure nobody's... you know - looting? Breaking the... law..."

It occurred to him that this really wasn't going to be easy, but he sort of thought he owed it to Sam at least to put more effort into it. "Thought you might like to come with... seeing as you know... everything better than me..." Which was true. Keith did know more about the island's law-like-things than he did. "Thought Sam could look after," Blondie, "Veronica..."

Keith paused, watching Dean for this entire series of statements. At first he was about to argue, but transparent as what he was doing was, he still might have a point.

Much as Keith hated to admit it.

"My daughter's unconscious, Dean," he pointed out, looking past Dean towards the room. "So are a lot of people. It's a little difficult to loot while you're in a coma, wouldn't you say?"
