well the way i see it...we've just lived the first 20 years of our lives...now by the time we graduate itll have been 22 years, and im thinking thatll go by REAL fast. so for simplicity's sake lets say we are almost done with the first 25 year segement of our lives. We then have a short 15 year segment of our lives, where we get married, have kids, make most of our money, etc. that brings us to 40. and then we have a last 25 year segment of our lives...which is when our kids go to college and we have grandchildren. and then finally in our last 25 year segment we retire at 65. and then life is over.
Thats even scarier to look at it that way. I wish I could say I'm gonna be one of those really healthy active older people so my life wouldn't effectively end at 65, but my habits at 18 are alarmly inactive and not that healthy. Thats probably not a good sign.
neal, i cannot describe how much i miss freshman year of high school and all the times we would just hang out at your house playing home run derby. or going to jumbos (rip). sometimes i regret not being around more with you guys later in high school, but overall im really thankful for the times i did have with you. i think being friends with you guys (mostly pre-poker crew, no offense to the ladies) was the closest ill ever get to having a 'friends' (as in the tv show) type experience. its so great to just have a strong group of friends where its cool to just sit around and just TALK about random stuff for hours and have most of it be absolutely hilarious. i always wish i could like.. take it back to that particular time for just a little bit. ::sigh::
Oh God. I swear I just shed a few tears when I read Jumbos. I don't care if it had rats, or they were selling drugs, or whatever. Jumbos was perfect. There will never be another place quite like it.
But yeah...obviously I totally know what you mean. I miss it all...making friends in college is a lot of fun, but it'll never replace the friends I've already made. It's just different.
