Life & Death - Christmas & The Surrounding Days -

Dec 28, 2004 09:52

Christmas was -- well -- relatively uneventful. This was surprising as we were spending the holiday with Jas' family (a normally stressful thing for all involved) and that we were spending it at his grandmother's house (who had died just a few days prior on Dec. 23).

More about Christmas )

Women pallbearers. I never really considered it before, but you're right; makes more sense to have a strong woman carry the casket than a 120-lb teenage boy, yes?

I'm sorry for your families' loss, H. I'm glad to hear that his family was more or less at peace with her death. Here's to Francis.

I know I have seen some pretty weak little guys struggle with the casket and knew of at least a couple of strong girls who probably would have faired better (and were closer to the family).

However, you should have seen the faces when I made the suggestion. They all just stared at me in disbelief, halting mid conversation! LOL - leave it to me to say the one thing that would make even the boldest in the group shocked!

Oh, and thank you for your thoughts on Francis. She really was a great old gal. I know the family would thank you if they could.

I remember seeing some movie where an EXTREMELY large person was being buried... I remember seeing the pall bearers struggling.
Not the best thing for a funeral.

Give my best to Jason and his family.
