100th Anniversary of International Women's Day.

I've heard and read some comments suggesting that we don't need an International Women's Day anymore for a number of reasons. Most often it's one of the following:

  • women are not a minority
  • women are already equal
  • why should there only be one day?
  • why are we treating women as "the other" from men, instead of dealing with all humans equally

YES. Thank you. I mean, picking holes in International Women's Day because it's treating men and women differently? Are you kidding me? Not all inequality is created equal, people.

Also, yeah, privileged people in Western countries are in no position to say we don't need this. International, remember? Go on, tell me that women everywhere around the world would be just fine if only they'd stop othering themselves. Wait, try telling them that.
