We need to play these two together. .....but since we haven't much yet, tell me what living with Morrolan is like? |D;

Needs moar cabinpost. I anticipate one coming soonish; Layla and I has an idea other than the baaaabydragons.

Um. Morrolan's pretty neat in his habits, and he probably makes a decent roommate. He's been hunting since the mess hall blew up, so he probably brings back meat every so often. He reads a lot, occasionally performs witchcraft rituals outside for various minor purposes, practices at least an hour every day with Blackwand, and experiments with his various magical disciplines. The cabin's probably picking up some witchcraft symbols carved into the wood, for assorted preservation and convenience spells. Also, dragon egg.

Hmmm....how is Polly reacting to the combination of (apparently good) officer and wizard?

So would it be wrong of me to go back to that cabinpost now? It's a few days old, huh.

Well, it was obvious from the first that Morrolan was nothing like the officers OR wizards that Polly's heard tell of. I imagine she lives in kind of a perpetual state of bemusement over his general competence. She's probably a bit worried about what that MEANS as far as his observations on her go, but h-heck, he's not her commanding officer. Overall he's probably not a bad influence on her. She might even occasionally go out and train after watching him... and feel very inferior for having tried it. But when it comes to talking to him or going near his personal effects, she's wary. He's just unnatural, you know? It's forbidding. And foreboding. Both of those.

Also, she can probably cook that meat, if anyone's interested in the offer.

Well,if I were less completely crushed it would be fine. XD It's probably still fine, just be aware that I'm gonna be really slow, as in "over several days or weeks."

Morrolan would probably be interested; he can cook, but he's mostly been smoking it since that's easy to do on the site of the kill with sorcery.

How might a certain small animal climb its way inside Cabin Clear?

Through the windows, or failing that, by prying loose part of the patch from the hole in the floor. XD

Hmmmm. How much do Burupya's impressions of people carry over to Mikage, and vice versa?

Reply

swornmyoaths May 6 2008, 20:28:12 UTC
Well, quite often Mikage won't remember people that Burupya's met at all unless he concentrates. A baby dragon doesn't have the most coherent of thoughts and memories. But if Burupya encounters someone Mikage already knows or they otherwise make a strong impression, he will remember more about the meeting ( ... )

Yeah, that makes sense. The information's there but it's processed differently, sort of, and they each view it through the context of the postprocessing the other personality put on it. (We just had a long philosophical discussion in AI class about what consciousness is, can you tell? XD)

Um. That's an interesting question, actually. If it was normal shapeshifting I'd probably say yes, because he could get a psychic trace from witchcraft and see that it led to the same person, but they have, effectively, different minds. As a necromancer, he'd probably be able to tell it's the same soul, and he's pretty familiar with reincarnation, since Draegerans usually reincarnate (and in canon this can be traced a long, long way back and across species boundaries). I'd say that he probably could, if he thought to check that the baaaabydragon had a human soul, but he would actually have to look for it.

What's the most unexpected contrast in relationships between Burupya and Mikage, if any?

If Lloyd asked Morrolan for swordsmanship lessons, would he do it? And how do you think they'd go?

Reply

myblackwand May 6 2008, 19:43:44 UTC
He definitely would, but they'd probably be less lessons and more sparring sessions where occasionally they stopped to demonstrate particularly effective moves. The Empire doesn't really have a style that corresponds to Lloyd's two-sword style, but it has thousands and thousands of years of nasty tricks for sword-and-dagger (which is Morrolan's primary style). They'd probably have a lot of fun with it, actually. XD

Hmmm, a question...how do you think Morrolan would do in the Tales world, were he to visit or be stuck there?

Do you liek me?

Short answer: Y.

Longer answer: Tsuna made a positive first impression, and deflected Morrolan's curiosity in a socially acceptable way. (The answer wasn't honestly that important to him; the fact that Tsuna was reluctant to talk about it was interesting him, but the phrase "personal matter" pretty much dropped it into the category "none of my business".) He likes Tsuna's earnestness and genuineness, and will try his damnedest not to laugh his ass off when he finds out that Tsuna's the next best thing to a major Jhereg area boss.

How about the other way around?

Tsuna likes him! Morrolan came off as smart, calm, interesting, and most importantly, sane! A winning combination. Tsuna also appreciates Morrolan's ability to let things go, Tsuna doesn't like it when people pry, really. While Tsuna loves his famiglia, and while they are his bffs, it's nice to have friends outside of his small circle. Hence why he offered to hang out. So, so far so good!

PS don't mind the bush following us around, it's my stalker
