Gacked from amanuensis1: Television of 2011 meme

Which TV shows did you start watching in 2011?
Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Once Upon a Time, Grimm, Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Which TV shows did you let go of in 2011?

I won’t say “let go” just yet, but my weird on-and-off affair with Merlin continues. I haven’t been able to get into season 4.

Which TV shows did you mean to get into but didn't in 2011? Why?

Shameless, the US version. I watched a few episodes, and I really did like it, but haven’t been compelled to keep up. My parents love it. Every time they come home they ask me if I’ve been watching, and I have to remind them that I don’t really do that.

Which TV shows do you intend on checking out in 2012?

Sherlock, Friday Night Lights (am already 3 episodes in with this one), Being Human

Which TV show impressed you least in 2011?

I know this is sacrilege among TV-lovers, but I tried a little Breaking Bad and didn’t love it. Everyone is all excited about the character development, but I’m not interested enough in the basic concept that I will watch several seasons just to admire the bold writing decisions.

Which TV show do you think you might let go of in 2012 unless things significantly improve?

Once Upon a Time has not been outstanding so far. The relationship with Lost is showing, and just like Lost, I find myself bored for the whole hour when the focus character is one I’m not interested in. Right now, I’m mostly hanging on for Ginnifer Goodwin, her character is my favorite, also her hair and her clothes.

Which TV show impressed you the most in 2011? Why?

I have really loved Supernatural so far this season. I couldn’t get very emotional about S6, for some reason, so whatever has changed that put me back into it is awesome.

For new stuff, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked Grimm. I did my usual fairy-tale nerd grumble, “they’re going to pick stories that weren’t in the Kinder- und Hausmärchen, it’s a specific canon of stories, you can’t do that,” not to mention the fact that I don’t care for police procedurals, normally. As it turns out, they managed to explain away the first issue to my satisfaction, and I like the procedural element. It’s being filling the whole in my life that Supernatural has left with the season break.

Which TV shows do you think you'll never let go of no matter how crappy they get? Why?

As campy and implausible as it gets, I don’t think I can give up on Pretty Little Liars. At heart it is a mystery, and I suppose this is how they get you, wanting to know who did it (no spoilers in the comments, please! I haven’t read the books). Besides, I love the absurdity of it, too.
