You know, I think all your criticisms are valid, as well as your praises, but I came away with a more positive impression than you did. But that's how I roll.

Um, I would recommend Game of Thrones. I can be positive about that! It's fantasy, but with a political thriller sort of bent. Kind of like Rome, but not, y'know, Roman.

Yeah, yeah, everyone recommends that series. It's too daunting for me right now. By the time I read all the books, I'll have forgotten what happened in the first one!

Doubtful. Game of Thrones isn't the kinda book series that will let you forget.

The reason they recommend it is because it's INCREDIBLE.
