Last night I realized that I very rarely refer to myself as a woman. It's always "girl." I feel strange when someone calls me a woman, even stranger when I call myself one.

I'm fairly sure it isn't just me, but I'm interested in hearing other people's experiences with "boy to man" and "girl to woman." Tell me, do you refer to yourself as a boy or ( Read more... )

I do the same (I'm 44), but I don't know if there's an acceptable flip-side of that. "Gal" is too...Dale Evans.

I only call girls who are older than me "woman".

I'm in a similar boat. I can't really think of myself as a "man," nor of most girls as anything but "girls." I don't think it's an adulthood thing, either. But, now that you mention it, it *is* rather odd. Perhaps this is indicative of participating in a culture that eschews adulthood? /ramble ramble ramble
