"Hey, everything looks amazing! Nice job!" Blaine enthused as he walked up to Hunter, clapping him companionably on the back, looking like he'd had just walked off the set of The Great Gatsby, down to the pink silk bow-tie with matching pocket-square and two tone wingtip shoes.

He smiled brightly at the other boy, running a finger along the brim of his hat. "Very authentic. I like it. Now I'm jealous. Will you let me try it on later?"

Hunter smiled, looking down at Blaine with a huge smile on his face. He was very glad that the Anderson's had come to the party. Mostly, he didn't think Blaine would come. It meant something that he had. His eyes lingered over Blaine, checking him out way longer than a straight man should. "You look great. Very fitting," he murmured.

His head tilted and he leaned into Blaine's touch. "Of course." Taking off the hat, he brushed his fingers against Blaine's as he passed it to him. Thinking better of it, he took the hat back, only to put it on Blaine himself. Soft fingers brushed against the man's temple as he adjusted the hat with a slight tilt.

"It looks better on you," he purred.

He wasn't sure about coming, but Sierra was excited about dressing up and going out, and he had found the perfect suit, everything looked entirely vintage, and he decided sitting home, alone, again, while his parents politely bickered was an awful waste of his life. Enough sad. A Warbler party sounded perfect. Even if he shouldn't, wouldn't drink. It never ended well. He'd kissed a girl and dated her the first time, and tried to lose his virginity in the back-seat of a car his second, not an amazing record. But there were friends, and music, and dancing, ginger-ale would be fine ( ... )

Hunter shook his head. "Nah, it looks better on you. The way you smile, the angle it sits. It make you look like Dean Martin. Classic." He grinned and leaned forward, nudging Blaine's shoulder with his own. If Blaine was nervous, Hunter couldn't tell. He raised an eyebrow at the handsome comment. "And you, Blaine, look just to die for. All the men will be hitting on you. Hell, look over there Sebastian is eye fucking you right now."

He turned and headed towards the bar. He was sure Blaine would follow him. And if he didn't, it would be Blaine's loss. He thought about his little plan with Blaine and Sierra. If it didn't work, he'd be very heartbroken. He really wanted both of the Anderson's back at Dalton. "I'll take a punch." He wasn't sure what he felt about Blaine. All he knew was it was complicated and he hated to think about it.

"You think so? Ooh, I'll have to try that trick later, where he would spin it onto his head. If you don't laugh when I drop it," he grinned, glancing in the direction that Hunter was looking, giving Sebastian a nod and a smile, waving his fingers at him vaguely but not encouraging him to come over. He didn't want to play with Sebastian right now. Even if he was being much nicer these days, and it seemed genuine.

True to Hunter's prediction, Blaine was only a few steps behind, leaning up close, but not quite touching him, except for where their cufflinks connected against each other. "What's in the punch?" Blaine asked, tilting his head up to look at Hunter from under the borrowed hat.

It all was fine with Hunter. Right now, Bas was hitting on some boy that he didn't recognize. Whether he was a Dalton or not, he wasn't sure. It just meant that, at that moment, he wasn't focusing all his attention on Blaine. And yes, it bothered Hunter that he might be jealous. Because that would be stupid.

"Oh, it's just punch." He turned to hand Blaine a glass, blinking suddenly. He hadn't expected Blaine to be so close. The dream he had came back to haunt him and he took a small step back. "Uh, here. Try it." He stared into Blaine's eyes, startled by just how beautiful they were. What the hell was wrong with him?

Blaine had forgotten about Sebastian as soon as his back was turned. He had come here to socialize, buzz about the room like a bee, but he found that he had really no other intention currently but to spend time with Hunter. Best not to think into that too much. Because he wasn't dumb enough to fall for someone straight, right? Heartache was not something he really needed in his life.

Blaine smiled at him playfully over the rim of the glass, taking a sip. "Truthfully? Because I'm terrible with alcohol. I'll end up trying to play cowboy with you on a couch or something equally embarrassing," he admitted, hazel eyes sparkling in the light as he laughed.

He closed the space between them as if he hadn't been aware that Hunter stepped back on purpose. "Shouldn't we toast?"

"I wish I could say it's just punch." He watched Blaine taking a sip. "Sorry, it's spiked. Too bad, though. I like to play cowboy. I make a very good saddle." He winked at Blaine, getting a devious look in his eyes. "If you won't play, maybe Sierra will?" He wondered just how Blaine would react to that. Would he get jealous?

Hunter swallowed, gazing down at Blaine. "Of course." Lifting his glass, he tapped it against Blaine's, taking another small step backwards.

He looked around the room, sharing a glance with Sebastian. Ooh, Seb was pissed that he was talking to Blaine. He smirked, winking at his fellow Warbler before turning back to Blaine. "To... To new friends? To starting over?"

"It doesn't taste spiked... you might be teasing me. I can't ever be really sure," Blaine decided, taking another sip. Maybe even if it was, things would be different this time. It tasted good, and he was thirsty ( ... )

"If you don't want to believe me, then don't. Trust me, it's spiked." He snorted and took another sip of his punch. The burn of the liquid felt good going down his throat. He would never admit it to people, but he liked drinking. Sometimes his life was not the best, as privileged as he was. It was a family trait. His father drank. Probably his father too. "You want to ride me and say giddy up?"

His brow furrowed and he looked down at Blaine, raising an eyebrow. "Yes, Sierra... Your sister. That beautiful girl standing right over there talking to a Warbler?" He laughed, looking at Blaine like he'd grown a third eye. He wondered if he shouldn't have said something.

"Blaine... I feel the same way. I'm really enjoying our friendship more than I thought I would." He smiled, but the smile was short lived. Watching Blaine dance with Sebastian did something to him. And it was more than just wanting to make sure Sebastian didn't treat him like shit or do something bad. No, he didn't like watching Sebastian dance with Blaine. Which was ( ... )

Blaine's father drank heavily as well. But better than Blaine did. He never started dancing and kissing people from it. It was more like the heavy cut glass tumbler was permanently attached to his hand. "I didn't say I wanted to. I said that if I drank too much, I might. I don't think that's the same thing, really ( ... )

"Then have another drink, Blaine," he murmured. Hunter smiled. He respected Blaine for loving his sister so much that he wanted to protect her. As devious as he could be, he would never hurt any of the Anderson's. His feelings for them were true. He may not always have the best methods, but he had the best intentions. He wasn't a man who liked public school. He honestly believed that it would be better for them to come back to Dalton and Crawford respectively ( ... )

It was a good thing that Hunter was outside. If he had seen Sebastian kissing Blaine, he would have reacted in a bad way. Something that would not be a good thing for a Warbler Captain to do. He'd been torn, tempted to go back inside when Blaine had come out. He smiled for Blaine, but it didn't quite reach his eyes ( ... )

"Blaine, I am not naive. I am not new. And that was not just a dance." He bit his lip, trying to keep any other comments he wanted to say inside. His eyes moved down to where Blaine was holding his arm. He didn't want to admit it felt nice. "You may want to be friends with Sebastian. You may want to mend fences, but that that had nothing to do with that dance ( ... )
