I went to Canada Computers on Saturday with Dan Sheehy (the IT guy from my office) and we've ordered all the parts for my new computer system that I'll be grabbing this Friday when it's ready. I didn't order sound/video cards, monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse, all of that will carry over from my last system but my new parts are ( Read more... )

theres a program my friend Joe uses on his pc, i'll get the name of it for you if you want - but you can hook up yer guitar to yer usb port and it goes into this program which is basically an amp and a bazillion effect pedals. so if you have a decent computer sound system it rocks, and u can record with 100% quality.

pentium processors rock - but poor folk like me get stuck with the AMD chips..gotta wonder about a company who cant measure the speed of their cpus.. Mhz is a measurement of speed.. you'd think an AMD 2800+ would mean.. its 2.8ghz.. but no.. thats like.. 2.1 or so. maybe a little more, as opposed to 2.8+ which is what it LOOKS like and should mean.

gratz on the new system. i was thinkin about upgrading but imma hold out till the 64 bit chips are more available at the end of the year, the new boards and cpus are gonna be one insane step ahead i think. they will be sick expensive tho.

I'd love to see what program that is, do you remember the name? Sounds something like Line6's GuitarPort Program, but it could be anything really ( ... )

hehe computer upgrading is alwas fun.

I think it the program he uses is GuitarPort. It seemed cool theres a community where people make their own effects and upload them so peeps can download them and use em and stuff, pretty cool.

i remember when i upgraded my Pentium 233 to an AMD K6-2 550 or something.. then a pentium 933..then to.. a p3 1200... then an AMD Athalon 1900+..and each time thinking.. hrmm doesnt seem much faster..

tho when we upgraded suzi's p3 833 to an AMD 2200+ it was insane difference. her system boots into windows in under 20 seconds from the time you turn it on. its crazy.

I'm expecting to see an insane difference just like that, going from my p3 650 to a p4 2.8, i really hope so anyways!

I'd really like to check out GuitarPort. I was working at Steve's Music when it came out and all the guys in the guitar department seemed to be floored by it.

And boot time is SO important, i hate waiting around for my computer to boot up, grinding and grinding and beeping...Fucking thing... :)
