[Kid's voice is somewhat muffled on one end of the phone, as he currently has the receiver upside-down. So he's a little old-fashioned, telephones have somewhat of a learning curve if you've never had to make a phone call for reals in your life.]

Really! Blasted thing-- I, how does this even--??

[He's just RANDOMLY (but symmetrically) PRESSING ( Read more... )

Oh, excellent!

[There's the sound of typing in the background - Kid's found an old typewriter somewhere, and is cheerfully collecting the information. Bureaucracy more like Beautifulcracy.]

Name? Also, did you file these with the town morgue? Otherwise, I believe I need to ask you the circumstances.

Meriken.

[A very WTF filled pause.]

And, I don't think this dumb place even has a morgue.

I've heard of it once. Is it a fruit? mydedicatedfix April 28 2010, 04:12:15 UTC
I really shouldn't be surprised, other than a few surface details, whoever is running this place is doing a very poor job at keeping things organized.

Is there at least a place where I could review reports? You certainly don't leave the souls around after the body explodes, now, do you?

W-why would you need to know something like that for a census?!

mydedicatedfix April 28 2010, 04:04:19 UTC
It's my responsibility and birthright to take care of Souls and the dead. The town seems to have some sort of problem with that.

Well if you're looking for dead people here, you're going to be disappointed. This town always brings the dead back to life.

Well, yes, I was informed.

The dead certainly don't talk on these ridiculous devices.

W-why do you want to know who died? [He finally forgot about that time...even if there was nothing to remember.]

mydedicatedfix April 28 2010, 04:05:28 UTC
Well, the living are barely my concern unless they choose to upset the balance, after all. I'm only being practical.

I see...um...well...I died once while I was here.

Oh, is that how it is, then?

[There's the ding of a typewriter in the background - so much neater and faster than having to construct serif font by hand.]

Name? Do you remember anything about it? I'm quite curious to how badly this place is manhandling everyone's souls.

[APPEARS like the creeper he is] Hardly anything will fall into your scope of power at the moment, you know.

[Gosh not!Dad why you gotta be a busta.]

Either way, Honorable Father would expect me to take care of whatever I can. For now, it's information.

What good do you think that sort of information will do? [he is actually a little curious despite the generic Condescending Air]

Well, rather than sitting outside in filth like some people, I actually have responsibilities. One of them being the balance of souls and the care for the dead. No matter how convenient it is for some people, it's unnatural for there to be no permanent death.

Currently alive or not, they're still my responsibility!

[There's the ding of a typewriter over the phone.]

...Oh, Ed.

From what I've been hearing, let me guess - it was some sort of unnatural thing where the body is left behind, wasn't it?

braided_icarus April 29 2010, 00:12:37 UTC
...Yeah. From what I understand, that sounds about right.

[He knows Winry and Hohenheim have died too, and Al twice, but he'll let them speak up for themselves if they wanted.]

I'm not even surprised anymore. Just... confused. Who the hell dies like that? The only people who leave behind bodies back home end up just turning into the undead!

Though, that could explain... something. I'm not sure.
