Because I am supposed to be working but I don't feel like it and this is more fun and my boss just walked by...did the old quick-switch applications thing. And now she's back in her office and I can go back to goofing off

As you know, I'll be visiting your happy little city in August, so it was great reading that. I'm going to be trying the impossible; taking mass transit all the way from LaGuardia to a ratty Hostel on the Upper East Side (which is probably a slum in East Harlem, but they call it "Upper East Side" for fools like me who don't know where East Harlem starts

How "run down" are the neighborhoods at the northern end of Manhattan (Harlem, Washington Heights, etc).
Is the Bronx 100% one big trashheap (unfortunately, that's where most of the teaching jobs are,.. inner-city schools, and likely where I'd end up if I got a job there)
how's the mass transit? Is it possible to live in NYC without a car?
How has the city changed since Guillani. My uncle was raised in Brooklyn, and moved to Long Island after high school, and left NY entirely in '79. He said that its a wholly different city now, especially after Guillani.. Did he really "clean it up," so to speak. I just can't see one man making that much of a difference.
How's the weather there, right now? (non-stop rain here... its going to be another one of those monsoon-type summers where it starts raining in June and doesn't stop til September).
"Ever heard of Alternate Side Of The Street Parking" yeah, in the seinfeld episode.. "these pretzels are MAKING "ME" thirsty!
Haha, thanks for the Info... I'll be there in Aug, looking forward to taking a look at everything (and not just the tourist things.. since I'm considering moving there in a year), and on a sidenote, they're currently forcasting a break in the rain on Tuesday for us. I have a minor mildew allergy, and after more than 2 weeks of almost nonstop rain, I'm not feeling too well. MUSHROOMS ARE GROWING ON BROAD DAYLIGHT, lol!

oh yeah Enigma..about Washington Hts and Harlem...Harlem is in sort of a renaissance, but I wouldn't move in quite yet. And I'm not real sure about Washington Hts. I know it's on the TV news a lot. Which usually isn't good news.
Hey, Midnight-Sweetie, we sell Kate Spade crap at Borders. Check this out...$12 for post-it notes that say, "Hi!" You can't get this stuff at just any Borders, BTW. Just a couple, like mine, where the merchandising is spectacular. And yes, people buy this stuff. Except for the post-its; I don't think they're big sellers.
Thank you Kate Spade for alleviating my guilt for paying $2 for Target-Clearance post-its. :o)
Hi. MY Borders doesn't have Kate Spade post-its! Feeling deprived now! I need to be the first at work to adorn my memos with the very latest in designer post-itry. Hmm, back to Canal Street I must now go to procure knockoff post-its! Damn you, Kate Spade! :o)
Don't feel too bad about the Kate Spade stuff. It's a test, Borders carrying them. I think it's only two stores out of 400+. You can get expensive post-its at Target, too! They don't say, "Hi!", but they are super-cute and are under $12.
I don't know where else you can get $12 Kate Spade post-its, and $55 Kate Spade pencil cases, which I confess I WANT. But even with an employee discount, I can't justify the expenditure. It's just not cute enough to blow $55 on. A girl at work (I do mean girl--just graduated high school) has a KS bag just barely bigger than the pencil case. She can NO WAY afford KS on what Borders pays. ;o) Nice folks, that's all.
