computer recommendations

I need to buy a cheap laptop in the next couple weeks. I hate to part with my mac, but I just don't have the time to fix it right now.

Anyone have any recommendations for a laptop. . under $1000, under $700 is even better. I don't really need it for much more than internet and writing papers and stuff.
