A little sheep story
or
A sheepish little story
Ed and Hank took me camping this past weekend.
The place we were originally headed was on fire.
With an inversion holding the smoke down
It was a "prescribed burn", meaning it was planned.
So no sheep were in danger
But smoke is smoke...
Can't breathe.
Can't see.
So we went here instead...
Day started out very nice...
But we only had that classic
deep blue western sky
for a little while...
Before the day changed to this...
(Still real nice though.)
And finally this...
So we headed up towards the mountains instead.
But first Ed & Hank asked me to wait in the truck
While they went to check out that big ol' rock.
They disappeared 'round the other side.
Can't imagine what they were doin'.
Came back smilin' though.
Kinda sheepishly...
And speaking of sheep...
Too late in the year for sheep to still be on the mountain.
So couldn't take pictures of sheep. Damn!

As the next best thing.
Come to think of it...
Hadn't seen any sheep all day...
Not for any lack of looking for them though...
No sheep here... :(
Ed & Hank even looked inside that old barn
For a while. In fact, for quite a long while.
I'm sure they would have found sheep
If any sheep had been in there.
And there weren't any sheep here... :(
I know 'cause Ed & Hank checked everywhere
They went 'round them rocks and
looked and looked and looked.
They were gone so long
I took a nap.
No sheep here either... :(
Ed & Hank even looked behind those bushes.
They ain't very good at looking for sheep.
Takes them a long, long, long time.
And they've never ever found any.
But they sure do like looking
A whole helluva lot.
So, where are all the sheep?

Maybe they're all
on their way to town
for the big "Sheep Festival"!
Though we didn't see
any hitchhiking
sheep...
'Course we wouldna
picked them up
if we had.
'Cause them sheep
can be mighty
dangerous
y' know.
So, our town is having a big old "Sheep Festival"
It's being held later this month
I'll take pictures.
