Part 2: Being in Love Means Letting Go at the Same Time
“Kyuhyun, can you stop it? We are in public!” Sungmin scolds her boyfriend because he tries to kiss her at school cafetaria. Donghae who’s sitting in front of them, can’t help but snort loudly. The three of them as usual sit on their table. But the difference is there’s no Hyukjae.
Well, since he and that Hara girl become officially together, he rarely spent times with his usual best friends. And it makes Donghae really sad and lonely. But she never show it through her face. She still looks the same cheerful and cute Donghae around the others.
But as a girl who knows well her best friends, Sungmin can feel what she feels. Who wouldn’t be lonely when your used-to-be best friend give the priority to his girlfriend now? That’s why now she never want to display a lot of affection towards Kyuhyun when they’re in front of Donghae. Sometimes, Sungmin feel grateful knowing that Donghae now spend more time with her new friend, Kim Kibum. At least, Donghae has someone who cares about her. She knows that Kibum is really a sincere and nice boy.
“I don’t like her.” Sungmin says out of the blue, earning a questioning looks from both Donghae and Kyuhyun. “Who?” Kyuhyun asks her. Then Sungmin points that certain girl in the other side of cafetaria with her eyes. They follow her gaze’s direction. Donghae sighs in disgust immediately.
There, sit Hyukjae and his quite-over-acting girlfriend, with some of her girl friends who giggles like a fangirls. Donghae eyes her best friend from afar. She doesn’t know if it’s just her or what, but she thinks Hyukjae’s not quite enjoying the moment. He keeps busy himself with his lunch, even though Hara tries to feed him, but he refuses it then look away.
Donghae gets startled when Hyukjae turn his gaze on her so suddenly. She looks away immediately, doesn’t want to get busted staring at him just now. She’s back to her lunch and take a look on her best friends who are feeding each other, again. Where is Kibum when i need him? Why must he be absent today? I’m so alone now.
“Where is Kibum, Hae? I haven’t seen him yet today.” Sungmin asks Donghae, looks like she can read her mind.
“He’s absent. Don’t know why...” She answers lazily.
“Who is absent?” Donghae looks up when she thinks she hears a familiar voice. Hyukjae.
“Hey, Hyukkie! I think i haven’t seen you for years.” Donghae greets him sarcastically with a sweet tone. Then she’s back to her lunch. Being a close friends they were, Hyukjae can sense something behind her act. He becomes tensed right now.
“What’s with you, Hae?” He asks in disbelief. Donghae ignores him coldly, while Sungmin and Kyuhyun are watching intensely and carefully. “Geez, why did i come here in the first place? I can’t believe it.” He’s getting angry, and Donghae looks like she doesn’t care he’s here.
In fact, Donghae is just so hurt inside. Seeing her used-to-be best friend ignore her, doesn’t care about her anymore, never walk her home anymore. Who wouldn’t be sad, disappointed, and hurt? And it’s their first time having a ‘fight’ since he dated that girl. Donghae usually acts normally in front of Hyukjae. Never show her disappointment towards her best friend. Never.
“Yeah, why are you here anyway? Just go back to your sweet girlfriend and her fangirl group.” She replies him coldly, emphasizing the word ‘sweet’, and without looking at him. But she’s actually trying so hard to hold back her tears.
Do you think i care, Hyukjae? I still have my best friends here, Sungmin and Kyuhyun, and even Kibum who always beside me so faithfully. Just go to your girl and never mind me.
“Hey, hey, you two! Stop it already, okay?!” Sungmin interrupts, ignoring Kyuhyun’s ‘don’t involve yourself in’ face. “Hyuk, please go now. You came here at the wrong time.” Sungmin continues. And even without her warn, Hyukjae walks away willingly.
“I.. I think i’m already full.” Donghae excuses herself for get out of there quickly before her tears really flow down on her cheeks. She runs from their seats and go to the restroom immediately. Her tear drops at the time when she shut the cubicle’s door. She keeps leaning on the door, sobbing silently.
Oh My God, why is this so hurt? Why do i feel in pain? I can’t see him at all, because it hurts me. Oh God, don’t tell me i am jealous over that girl, don’t tell me i am in love with him. Hyukjae, my brother, my best friend. Why do i fall in love with him? Why does this happen when he already have someone else? Why am i being in love but at the same time i am letting go of him?

The next day, Donghae is not attending school. She feels not good, and doesn’t want to meet anyone, especially Hyukjae. She just stays there at her room, sleeping, spacing out, eating, listening to her iPod, browsing randomly. And when she’s still sleeping under her blanket in the evening, her mother is coming in and calling her name.
“Donghae, dear... someone is coming for you.” She hears what her mother said, thinking that it’s probably Kibum, since she already texted Sungmin about her condition. She reveals herself lazily and look at who’s coming. She widens her eyes immeditely when she sees who’s coming. She sighs and turns her body to the opposite direction.
“I’m leaving you two, okay? Call me when you need something, dear.” Donghae just nods her head to her mother before she leaves the room. Donghae keeps silent, just clutching her nemo plushie, and looking at the window, doesn’t want to face her guest. Because it hurts.
“Hae... How are you feeling? I was worried when i found out that you didn’t come to school today. So i decide to visit you.” Hyukjae’s worried voice makes her in the edge of crying again. She blinks her eyes rapidly to prevent her tears coming out, still ignoring Hyukjae. But she definitely listen to him. She feels that Hyukjae’s going closer to her bed, and sit there on the edge.
“Hey... I know you’re still mad at me. I’m sorry, i really am. I realize my fault. I’m sorry if i couldn’t give you attention just like before. I know i am more to Hara now. I never gathered with you at the break time like we used to do before. I never walked you home ever since. But please, understand my position. Please, Hae. I have Hara too now. I can’t just ignore her. But i swear, from now on i will try to give my care for you too, doing our rituals as usual.” Hyukjae explain, slowly, carefully, and sincerely. But still no response. Donghae unknowingly sheds tears, doesn’t know the reason why.
A minute of silence. No move, no words.
Hyukjae sighs in surrender, but still continue. “You know what? Sometimes i’m being so lonely when i’m with her. I miss our laughter, i miss Kyuhyun and Sungmin’s teasing towards you. I miss your whines, i miss your... i miss you. I simply miss you, i don’t know why. You never knew how i felt when i’m with my gi-her.” No, no, Hyukjae. That word is forbidden to say in front of her.
Finally, sobs are heard from Donghae. She doesn’t know how, but she hates him and miss him at the same time. Maybe i have to be more easy on him being together with someone else although it so hurts. I know i can’t blame him if he doesn’t reciprocate my feeling. It’s me who is stupid enough to fall in love with my own best friend. I know i can’t lose him no matter what. Having him as a best friend is better than losing him.
Hyukjae hears her crying, he immediately lays his body down on the bed, next to Donghae. “Hae, don’t cry... you make me more feel bad. I’m sorry...i miss you, Hae.” He hugs her from behind, making her startled and cry more. Why do you have to do this, Hyukkie? Why are you so confusing me? Donghae thinks.

As the last grader, they’re getting busy with exams and final papers. Sungmin and Kyuhyun spend a lot of times at the library, studying together. Sometimes Donghae is there too with Kibum. They will go home at 8 PM. Hyukjae is also seen at the library a lot of times with his girlfriend who always whines about the difficulties of the subject.
One day, Sungmin finds Hyukjae alone there, books are scattered around him on the table. He seems so engrossed to what he’s doing. Sungmin approaches him after excuse herself to her boyfriend.
“Hyuk, you’re doing your sociology paper?” Sungmin asks him, distracting him from reading a book and highlighting some important parts. He sighs and look up at her.
“Yeah... I’m still working on it. This is our final paper and this is gonna affected our grade a lot. I have to do my best to finish it. What about you? Did you finish it already?” Hyukjae massage his own shoulder, stretching it. On the other hand, Sungmin seems not concentrate as something catch her attention.
There’s a lot of books with Hara’s name on it. I haven’t seen Hara here, i saw her at the cafetaria instead a few hours ago with her usual friends. Why is Hyukjae alone here with Hara’s books too? Are Hyukjae doing Hara’s paper? What is he thinking actually? She thinks.
“I haven’t finished it, but it only needs a summary.” She answers, still looking at the scattered books. And then she adds quickly. “Uhm, Hyuk... Why are Hara’s books here? But i saw her at the cafetaria a while ago. Are you doing her paper too?” Sungmin narrows her eyes in curious. Hyukjae looks at her with a guilty feeling.
“Ahhh, she wasn’t feeling fine. Maybe she’s just tired. I--I’m just trying to help her here...” He stutters and avoids Sungmin’s gaze.
“Are you sure you only help her? But i think you’re doing her paper, Hyukjae! I can see it here! Don’t act like i’m stupid. How could she do this to you? And you don’t mind it? Why are you so stu-“ Hyukjae cuts her off. Sungmin can’t accept that Hyukjae, her childhood best friend become some kind of toy which is used by unsympathetic girl like Hara. She just can’t take it why does love make him so blind?
“But she’s not feeling good! You don’t know anything, Sungmin! I’m just helping her because she found some difficulties. Is it wrong to to do that for my girlfriend?!” Hyukjae defends himself and his girlfriend angrily. And Sungmin doesn’t look scared or wanting to give up.
“BUT i saw her giggling with her group, acting like there’s not something important to do. Do you think i’m blind?! I could see her doing just fine! I can’t believe you, Hyukjae! She only uses you, for God’s sake!” Sungmin is used to be a sweet and polite girl, but this time she just can’t control her emotion towards her stupid childhood friend. She knew it, she never ever like Hara from the beginning. And their fight catches all of attention from the people at the library, including Kyuhyun who begins approaching the scene.
“You don’t know anything! Can you be nicer to her, Sungmin?! Huh? You’re just jealous best friend! No, i think you’re not my best friend anymore since you can’t respect my choice.” Hyukjae yells coldly, collecting his books and put it to his bag, ready to leave.
“HEY! Don’t shout at my girlfriend like that!” Kyuhyun yells at him irritatedly, covering Sungmin’s body protectively, while Sungmin’s widening her eyes in angry. Her body is trembling because of anger and holding back her tears.
“Yeah, you better keep her mouth shut!” Hyukjae says angrily to Kyuhyun as he leaves.
The used-to-be silent library suddenly become like a school yard. They shout to each other. But when Hyukjae leaves, it becomes silent again, even more silent, as the audience witness two smartest students fight with each other, Hyukjae and Kyuhyun.

Sungmin just still can’t take it. Hara only uses Hyukjae. She decides to confront her, doesn’t care that she’s with her stupid followers. Kyuhyun has tried to calm her, but fail. So he just let her be. He can’t do anything since maybe it’s the first time that he sees Sungmin like this.
“Hey, Goo Hara! I bet you’re having fun here, aren’t you?! How could you do that to Hyukjae, you mindless dumb girl?! Can you just do your task by yourself? Oh, i forget... you are indeed mindless and dumb! No wonder.” Sungmin quickly confronts her at school cafetaria, since she saw that Hyukjae wasn’t there. Hara only gives her a confused look first. But when she get the point, she curves her lips into a smirk.
“Why? You’re bothered about it? Tch! He did it willingly because he loves me too much. I can’t do anything against his stubbornness. But of course, i am really grateful to have a smart boyfriend like him. What’s the use of him then?” she says evilly, earning laughs from her followers. She just smirk to Sungmin, much to Sungmin dislike. Fortunately, Kyuhyun comes and drags Sungmin forcefully before something unwanted happen.
“NO, Kyuhyun! I haven’t finished yet with this bitch! You’ll see, Hara! You will regret this!” Sungmin shouts with anger.
Little did they know, someone has been watching all the time, and she’s currently crying hard after listening to what they shouted to each other. Having your two best friends fighting with each other is the least thing she wants to happen. Donghae can’t help but crying hard, thinking about how Hara has been used her Hyukkie. Yes, her Hyukkie! She feels like killing her right then. How dare she do that?! She hates her to death.

The news about Hyukjae doing Hara’s paper is spreading rapidly until the teachers hear about it. Mr. Kim as the homeroom teacher for Hyukjae, Hara, and Sungmin has to call each of them separatedly to clear the issue. Of course, in the end Mr. Kim doesn’t find anything to blame Hara or Hyukjae, because there’s no prove at all. He can’t blame them only based on Sungmin’s witness.
“So, here we are. I want you all to appologize and forgive to each other.” Mr. Kim says as he gathers the three of them together at his office. They shake hands halfheartedly or even unwillingly.
“I think i have to leave you all alone, for your reconciliation. I’m sure you are mature enough to solve this misunderstanding.” Mr. Kim says understandingly, then he leaves the room. There’s no one say something for some seconds. Not until Hara breaks the silence.
“Well, i think i don’t have problem with you anymore, Sungmin. I will leave you two alone, okay?” she says in a sweet voice, faking a smile.

Meanwhile, Donghae and Kyuhyun wait outside Mr. Kim’s room. They saw him when he leave the room alone. Donghae and Kyuhyun look at each other in confused.
“Are they done? Why don’t they go outside?” Kyuhyun asks Donghae. She just shrugs her shoulder cluelessly. Then someone catch their attention, Hara walks out of the room alone with a sly smile.
“Awww, i see you all gathered here. Why don’t you join them inside? For your... let’s say ‘reconciliation’.” She chuckles slyly and it’s going to Donghae’s nerves.
“Shut up, you fool stupid useless bitch!” Donghae can’t control her anger while Hara’s laughing in satisfied and leaving. It needs all Kyuhyun’s strength to prevent Donghae attack Hara. “C’mon, Hae! Don’t waste your time and energy for that evil!” Kyuhyun calms her down and drags her inside the room.
When they come in, they see the intense gazes of Hyukjae and Sungmin.
“I’m going to apologize to you, Hyuk. But it’s not because of what i did in this problem. I just want to apologize for making our friendship become like this. I’m sorry for involving you to this problem. But you know i just wanted to protect you, because i love you. We love you. I just couldn’t see someone used my best friend. I will always consider you as my best friend, Hyuk.” Sungmin says softly but firmly, trying her best to not crying and staying strong. Donghae sits beside her while Kyuhyun’s just leaning on the table and folding his arms in front of his chest.
“I will forgive you and accept you again if you apologize to Hara. And you admit that you were doing wrong about this.” Hyukjae says as firm as Sungmin did.
“But i didn’t do anything wrong to her, and i never regret what i’ve done to her. Because she’s indeed only someone who took the advantage of being your girlfriend. She never loved you if you don’t realize it. And i never forgive her because she only used you. I will never change my mind, Hyukjae.” Sungmin’s in the edge of crying, but she still hold back her tears strongly.
On the other hand, Donghae already cry silently. What happen with my Hyukkie? Why is he so different now? Tell me that i am seeing the same person, Hyukjae who i used to know. But why does he change now? What did she do to him? Sungmin thinks.
“Fine, if you think so. Then i won’t forgive you. I’m sorry we can’t be like we used to be, Sungmin. You already ruined my credibility of being good student here, and you already ruined our relationship. If you cannot respect and accept my girlfriend and my choices, then why we continue this friendship?” Hyukjae says coldly and heartlessly. And this time it succeeds making Sungmin let out her tears.
“I only regret our ruined friendship, you have to remember that. I just wonder... where is Hyukjae who i knew before? The happy-go-lucky and kind-hearted Hyukjae. You have changed, Hyuk! You’re not the same person i used to know. And you changed since she came to your life, since she came bugging around our friendship. Don’t you realize that?” Sungmin speaks still in her soft voice, trying to make Hyukjae understand that he indeed has changed ever since. Tears are falling down on her cheeks and she doesn’t bother to wipe it.
“Yeah, it’s up to you how you think about me or my girlfriend. Look! Donghae never whine about my relationship with Hara. Well, she did it once, but after that she seems so fine and-“ But Sungmin cuts him off.
“Because you are dense to realize it, Hyuk! You see? She’s crying now, because she’s disappointed towards you. She was the one who’s suffering all this time, Hyuk! Can’t you see her now?! She’s the victim here. She’s the most suffered one here. She just never speak up about it to us. But it doesn’t mean she’s not in pain. I can feel that actually she’s hurt inside to accept that her used-to-be best friend ignored her and suddenly changed!” Sungmin explains stubbornly, but Hyukjae still look at her coldly. Donghae cries harder now but in silent while Kyuhyun’s just cursing and chuckling in disbelief after see Hyukjae being stubborn and heartless.
“Well, i’ve said that if you cannot accept her, then maybe this is time for us to go to our own separate ways. Hae, i ask you now. Can you respect and accept Hara as my girlfriend or not?” Hyukjae turns to Donghae now who is holding back her anger.
“No! Not in a million years! I won’t ever accept her. I won’t ever forgive her for making you like this. She’s bad influence to the person who i thought as my best friend! And i can’t recognize you now, Lee Hyukjae! Because you’re a different person now. You’re not Hyukkie who i used to know back then!” Donghae snaps uncontrollably now. Hyukjae widens his eyes in disbelief.
“Fine!” is the last word Hyukjae said before he leave the room, leaving Donghae cry her heart out now, whispering “Give me back my old best friend...”. She bury her face in her palms.
Sungmin’s crying on Kyuhyun’s shoulder now. But because Kyuhyun pity Donghae too, he can’t help but hug her too in the end. He can only grit his teeth angrily, and calm them down at the same time. Donghae still mumble incoherently in Kyuhyun’s shoulder.
That evening, Donghae come home in the worst state ever. She goes upstairs directly, locking the door, and slamming her body to her bed, crying her heart out again like there’s no tomorrow.
Why, Hyukkie? Why did you break my heart? I hate you, Hyukkie, i hate you! Because you change now that i can no longer recognize you. Why did you leave me when i just found out that i’m falling for you? How could you do this to me? I hate you, Hyukkie! And i hate you because i fall for you yet i have to let you go at the same time. I’m really hurt and broken apart now because of you, Lee Hyukjae. Is this how we say goodbye? Is this really the end of our friendship?
Her mom is so worried because she doesn’t know what happen to her daughter. Donghae doesn’t want to speak and open the door. Her mom should use the spare key to unlock her door, with the help of Donghae’s dad. When her mom finally can come into her room, she finds her daughter already fall asleep with puffy face.

“Donghae, dear... someone is coming for you.” She hears what her mother said, thinking that it’s probably Kibum, since she already texted Sungmin about her condition. She reveals herself lazily and look at who’s coming. She widens her eyes immeditely when she sees who’s coming. She sighs and turns her body to the opposite direction.
“I’m leaving you two, okay? Call me when you need something, dear.” Donghae just nods her head to her mother before she leaves the room. Donghae keeps silent, just clutching her nemo plushie, and looking at the window, doesn’t want to face her guest. Because it hurts.
“Hae... How are you feeling? I was worried when i found out that you didn’t come to school today. So i decide to visit you.” Hyukjae’s worried voice makes her in the edge of crying again. She blinks her eyes rapidly to prevent her tears coming out, still ignoring Hyukjae. But she definitely listen to him. She feels that Hyukjae’s going closer to her bed, and sit there on the edge.
“Hey... I know you’re still mad at me. I’m sorry, i really am. I realize my fault. I’m sorry if i couldn’t give you attention just like before. I know i am more to Hara now. I never gathered with you at the break time like we used to do before. I never walked you home ever since. But please, understand my position. Please, Hae. I have Hara too now. I can’t just ignore her. But i swear, from now on i will try to give my care for you too, doing our rituals as usual.” Hyukjae explain, slowly, carefully, and sincerely. But still no response. Donghae unknowingly sheds tears, doesn’t know the reason why.
A minute of silence. No move, no words.
Hyukjae sighs in surrender, but still continue. “You know what? Sometimes i’m being so lonely when i’m with her. I miss our laughter, i miss Kyuhyun and Sungmin’s teasing towards you. I miss your whines, i miss your... i miss you. I simply miss you, i don’t know why. You never knew how i felt when i’m with my gi-her.” No, no, Hyukjae. That word is forbidden to say in front of her.
Finally, sobs are heard from Donghae. She doesn’t know how, but she hates him and miss him at the same time. Maybe i have to be more easy on him being together with someone else although it so hurts. I know i can’t blame him if he doesn’t reciprocate my feeling. It’s me who is stupid enough to fall in love with my own best friend. I know i can’t lose him no matter what. Having him as a best friend is better than losing him.
Hyukjae hears her crying, he immediately lays his body down on the bed, next to Donghae. “Hae, don’t cry... you make me more feel bad. I’m sorry...i miss you, Hae.” He hugs her from behind, making her startled and cry more. Why do you have to do this, Hyukkie? Why are you so confusing me? Donghae thinks.

As the last grader, they’re getting busy with exams and final papers. Sungmin and Kyuhyun spend a lot of times at the library, studying together. Sometimes Donghae is there too with Kibum. They will go home at 8 PM. Hyukjae is also seen at the library a lot of times with his girlfriend who always whines about the difficulties of the subject.
One day, Sungmin finds Hyukjae alone there, books are scattered around him on the table. He seems so engrossed to what he’s doing. Sungmin approaches him after excuse herself to her boyfriend.
“Hyuk, you’re doing your sociology paper?” Sungmin asks him, distracting him from reading a book and highlighting some important parts. He sighs and look up at her.
“Yeah... I’m still working on it. This is our final paper and this is gonna affected our grade a lot. I have to do my best to finish it. What about you? Did you finish it already?” Hyukjae massage his own shoulder, stretching it. On the other hand, Sungmin seems not concentrate as something catch her attention.
There’s a lot of books with Hara’s name on it. I haven’t seen Hara here, i saw her at the cafetaria instead a few hours ago with her usual friends. Why is Hyukjae alone here with Hara’s books too? Are Hyukjae doing Hara’s paper? What is he thinking actually? She thinks.
“I haven’t finished it, but it only needs a summary.” She answers, still looking at the scattered books. And then she adds quickly. “Uhm, Hyuk... Why are Hara’s books here? But i saw her at the cafetaria a while ago. Are you doing her paper too?” Sungmin narrows her eyes in curious. Hyukjae looks at her with a guilty feeling.
“Ahhh, she wasn’t feeling fine. Maybe she’s just tired. I--I’m just trying to help her here...” He stutters and avoids Sungmin’s gaze.
“Are you sure you only help her? But i think you’re doing her paper, Hyukjae! I can see it here! Don’t act like i’m stupid. How could she do this to you? And you don’t mind it? Why are you so stu-“ Hyukjae cuts her off. Sungmin can’t accept that Hyukjae, her childhood best friend become some kind of toy which is used by unsympathetic girl like Hara. She just can’t take it why does love make him so blind?
“But she’s not feeling good! You don’t know anything, Sungmin! I’m just helping her because she found some difficulties. Is it wrong to to do that for my girlfriend?!” Hyukjae defends himself and his girlfriend angrily. And Sungmin doesn’t look scared or wanting to give up.
“BUT i saw her giggling with her group, acting like there’s not something important to do. Do you think i’m blind?! I could see her doing just fine! I can’t believe you, Hyukjae! She only uses you, for God’s sake!” Sungmin is used to be a sweet and polite girl, but this time she just can’t control her emotion towards her stupid childhood friend. She knew it, she never ever like Hara from the beginning. And their fight catches all of attention from the people at the library, including Kyuhyun who begins approaching the scene.
“You don’t know anything! Can you be nicer to her, Sungmin?! Huh? You’re just jealous best friend! No, i think you’re not my best friend anymore since you can’t respect my choice.” Hyukjae yells coldly, collecting his books and put it to his bag, ready to leave.
“HEY! Don’t shout at my girlfriend like that!” Kyuhyun yells at him irritatedly, covering Sungmin’s body protectively, while Sungmin’s widening her eyes in angry. Her body is trembling because of anger and holding back her tears.
“Yeah, you better keep her mouth shut!” Hyukjae says angrily to Kyuhyun as he leaves.
The used-to-be silent library suddenly become like a school yard. They shout to each other. But when Hyukjae leaves, it becomes silent again, even more silent, as the audience witness two smartest students fight with each other, Hyukjae and Kyuhyun.

Sungmin just still can’t take it. Hara only uses Hyukjae. She decides to confront her, doesn’t care that she’s with her stupid followers. Kyuhyun has tried to calm her, but fail. So he just let her be. He can’t do anything since maybe it’s the first time that he sees Sungmin like this.
“Hey, Goo Hara! I bet you’re having fun here, aren’t you?! How could you do that to Hyukjae, you mindless dumb girl?! Can you just do your task by yourself? Oh, i forget... you are indeed mindless and dumb! No wonder.” Sungmin quickly confronts her at school cafetaria, since she saw that Hyukjae wasn’t there. Hara only gives her a confused look first. But when she get the point, she curves her lips into a smirk.
“Why? You’re bothered about it? Tch! He did it willingly because he loves me too much. I can’t do anything against his stubbornness. But of course, i am really grateful to have a smart boyfriend like him. What’s the use of him then?” she says evilly, earning laughs from her followers. She just smirk to Sungmin, much to Sungmin dislike. Fortunately, Kyuhyun comes and drags Sungmin forcefully before something unwanted happen.
“NO, Kyuhyun! I haven’t finished yet with this bitch! You’ll see, Hara! You will regret this!” Sungmin shouts with anger.
Little did they know, someone has been watching all the time, and she’s currently crying hard after listening to what they shouted to each other. Having your two best friends fighting with each other is the least thing she wants to happen. Donghae can’t help but crying hard, thinking about how Hara has been used her Hyukkie. Yes, her Hyukkie! She feels like killing her right then. How dare she do that?! She hates her to death.

The news about Hyukjae doing Hara’s paper is spreading rapidly until the teachers hear about it. Mr. Kim as the homeroom teacher for Hyukjae, Hara, and Sungmin has to call each of them separatedly to clear the issue. Of course, in the end Mr. Kim doesn’t find anything to blame Hara or Hyukjae, because there’s no prove at all. He can’t blame them only based on Sungmin’s witness.
“So, here we are. I want you all to appologize and forgive to each other.” Mr. Kim says as he gathers the three of them together at his office. They shake hands halfheartedly or even unwillingly.
“I think i have to leave you all alone, for your reconciliation. I’m sure you are mature enough to solve this misunderstanding.” Mr. Kim says understandingly, then he leaves the room. There’s no one say something for some seconds. Not until Hara breaks the silence.
“Well, i think i don’t have problem with you anymore, Sungmin. I will leave you two alone, okay?” she says in a sweet voice, faking a smile.

Meanwhile, Donghae and Kyuhyun wait outside Mr. Kim’s room. They saw him when he leave the room alone. Donghae and Kyuhyun look at each other in confused.
“Are they done? Why don’t they go outside?” Kyuhyun asks Donghae. She just shrugs her shoulder cluelessly. Then someone catch their attention, Hara walks out of the room alone with a sly smile.
“Awww, i see you all gathered here. Why don’t you join them inside? For your... let’s say ‘reconciliation’.” She chuckles slyly and it’s going to Donghae’s nerves.
“Shut up, you fool stupid useless bitch!” Donghae can’t control her anger while Hara’s laughing in satisfied and leaving. It needs all Kyuhyun’s strength to prevent Donghae attack Hara. “C’mon, Hae! Don’t waste your time and energy for that evil!” Kyuhyun calms her down and drags her inside the room.
When they come in, they see the intense gazes of Hyukjae and Sungmin.
“I’m going to apologize to you, Hyuk. But it’s not because of what i did in this problem. I just want to apologize for making our friendship become like this. I’m sorry for involving you to this problem. But you know i just wanted to protect you, because i love you. We love you. I just couldn’t see someone used my best friend. I will always consider you as my best friend, Hyuk.” Sungmin says softly but firmly, trying her best to not crying and staying strong. Donghae sits beside her while Kyuhyun’s just leaning on the table and folding his arms in front of his chest.
“I will forgive you and accept you again if you apologize to Hara. And you admit that you were doing wrong about this.” Hyukjae says as firm as Sungmin did.
“But i didn’t do anything wrong to her, and i never regret what i’ve done to her. Because she’s indeed only someone who took the advantage of being your girlfriend. She never loved you if you don’t realize it. And i never forgive her because she only used you. I will never change my mind, Hyukjae.” Sungmin’s in the edge of crying, but she still hold back her tears strongly.
On the other hand, Donghae already cry silently. What happen with my Hyukkie? Why is he so different now? Tell me that i am seeing the same person, Hyukjae who i used to know. But why does he change now? What did she do to him? Sungmin thinks.
“Fine, if you think so. Then i won’t forgive you. I’m sorry we can’t be like we used to be, Sungmin. You already ruined my credibility of being good student here, and you already ruined our relationship. If you cannot respect and accept my girlfriend and my choices, then why we continue this friendship?” Hyukjae says coldly and heartlessly. And this time it succeeds making Sungmin let out her tears.
“I only regret our ruined friendship, you have to remember that. I just wonder... where is Hyukjae who i knew before? The happy-go-lucky and kind-hearted Hyukjae. You have changed, Hyuk! You’re not the same person i used to know. And you changed since she came to your life, since she came bugging around our friendship. Don’t you realize that?” Sungmin speaks still in her soft voice, trying to make Hyukjae understand that he indeed has changed ever since. Tears are falling down on her cheeks and she doesn’t bother to wipe it.
“Yeah, it’s up to you how you think about me or my girlfriend. Look! Donghae never whine about my relationship with Hara. Well, she did it once, but after that she seems so fine and-“ But Sungmin cuts him off.
“Because you are dense to realize it, Hyuk! You see? She’s crying now, because she’s disappointed towards you. She was the one who’s suffering all this time, Hyuk! Can’t you see her now?! She’s the victim here. She’s the most suffered one here. She just never speak up about it to us. But it doesn’t mean she’s not in pain. I can feel that actually she’s hurt inside to accept that her used-to-be best friend ignored her and suddenly changed!” Sungmin explains stubbornly, but Hyukjae still look at her coldly. Donghae cries harder now but in silent while Kyuhyun’s just cursing and chuckling in disbelief after see Hyukjae being stubborn and heartless.
“Well, i’ve said that if you cannot accept her, then maybe this is time for us to go to our own separate ways. Hae, i ask you now. Can you respect and accept Hara as my girlfriend or not?” Hyukjae turns to Donghae now who is holding back her anger.
“No! Not in a million years! I won’t ever accept her. I won’t ever forgive her for making you like this. She’s bad influence to the person who i thought as my best friend! And i can’t recognize you now, Lee Hyukjae! Because you’re a different person now. You’re not Hyukkie who i used to know back then!” Donghae snaps uncontrollably now. Hyukjae widens his eyes in disbelief.
“Fine!” is the last word Hyukjae said before he leave the room, leaving Donghae cry her heart out now, whispering “Give me back my old best friend...”. She bury her face in her palms.
Sungmin’s crying on Kyuhyun’s shoulder now. But because Kyuhyun pity Donghae too, he can’t help but hug her too in the end. He can only grit his teeth angrily, and calm them down at the same time. Donghae still mumble incoherently in Kyuhyun’s shoulder.
That evening, Donghae come home in the worst state ever. She goes upstairs directly, locking the door, and slamming her body to her bed, crying her heart out again like there’s no tomorrow.
Why, Hyukkie? Why did you break my heart? I hate you, Hyukkie, i hate you! Because you change now that i can no longer recognize you. Why did you leave me when i just found out that i’m falling for you? How could you do this to me? I hate you, Hyukkie! And i hate you because i fall for you yet i have to let you go at the same time. I’m really hurt and broken apart now because of you, Lee Hyukjae. Is this how we say goodbye? Is this really the end of our friendship?
Her mom is so worried because she doesn’t know what happen to her daughter. Donghae doesn’t want to speak and open the door. Her mom should use the spare key to unlock her door, with the help of Donghae’s dad. When her mom finally can come into her room, she finds her daughter already fall asleep with puffy face.
