So _that_ happened

Okay, so to catch my new readers up quickly, four years ago I had my dream car, a black cherry Pontiac Aztek. It blew a head gasket and cracked the head and I didn't have insurance to fix it. So I took it to a trusted mechanic who told me it wasn't worth the money. Then Heather's step-dad said his friend would work on it if I bought the parts and payed a fraction of what my mechanic was charging. So I did that. Fast forward a year and I still don't have my truck. In fact my truck hasn't even been worked on and when I want to get a tow truck to bring it somewhere that it WILL be fixed I am told by John - the friend of Heather's step-dad - that I can't have the truck until I pay $800 in storage fees. For a truck he never even worked on. So I did the right thing and took him to court.

I ended up winning my case and was awarded over $5,000. Fast forward to today and this is the fourth time I have taken John back to court for not paying me. And four years I am without a car. It wouldn't be a huge deal since I don't wok, except I'm the sick girl, the one who has a doctor appointment every other week. It sucks having to schedule appointments around who's car is available and when. And it was no picnic trying to find a car to borrow to take down to Boston when I had my surgery.

ANYWAY!

So today we all sat there for almost an hour and a half in a hot court room, all of us trying not to fall asleep while we wait. When the judge finally came in there were a bunch of cases before us, then we were called. Here is what happened. it's an amusing tale.

Judge Carroll: So Mr. M, you have made no effort to pay anything since the last time you were in here seven months ago.
John: Well I filed a motion of reconsideration and never heard back about it.
Me: *shuffling through my papers because I got a copy of said file and have it to show he was DENIED.*
JC: If you're talking about this motion, that was filed in April of last year. And you were denied.
Me: *silently cheers.*
JC: So why haven't you paid anything?
J: Well I lost my job about five months ago.
JC: Okay...so what happened seven months ago?
J: *silence*
JC: Why didn't you pay seven months ago? Six months ago? Clearly you don't hold the order of this court in very high opinion.
J: No, I do!
JC: *Obvious irritation and snarkasm* I'll note that on your file. So what can you do a month?
J: Twenty-five.
JC: No. That's not going to work. Miss Morris, did you ever get your truck back? What happened with it?
Me: I never got it back, no. The last I heard was that it was chopped up and sold for scraps.
JC: *rubs his head. sighs* All right, I'm going to need to review this and issue an order of judgement. I'm sorry, Miss Morris, it's the best I can do for you today. *He looks sternly at John* I'm not threatening you, Mr. M, but an order of the court is an order of the court. You would do well to read my decision and pay up.

I have to say I have always liked Judge Carroll. I have actually known him since he was Attorney Carroll. He ran defense on a couple cases I sat jury for and I admired his strategy. And even when he was prosecuting against my idiot brother I had a deep respect for him. So I'm happy with him as my judge. I know he'll do right by me. John, on the other hand, is another story.

In other news, I really want to do a Secret Life with ponies as a certain someone else is going to be doing but I don't know if that would be weird or dumb. Though we'd have different story lines. I don't know. I was thinking about it during my hour and a half wait and came up with some ideas, then made myself stop until I talk to said friend.

The end.

car - brigid, fun - ponies
