Some People Stress Eat, Apparently I Stress Read

Penfold left me a voice message saying that she was tired of thinking about work for the day and wanted to know what I was reading. I started to make a list of what books I'd gone through lately to voicemail her back and started laughing at how long my list was getting and at how odd the mix was. So I decided to answer the question here because…

Yay Liaden! redpimpernel June 8 2009, 18:14:34 UTC
And I've been re-reading segments from Sharon Lee and Steve Miller's Liaden series of books which are still my all time Go To/Keeper authors, but I don't think those necessarily count since I'm always re-reading their stuff.

**dancing joy** You are the first of my friends (that I know of) who have read any of Sharon & Steve's books. This spring I bought almost the whole series for my Kindle. (I had 2 of the novels and I can't find e-versions of 2 of the chap books). Have been working on a complete timeline so I could read the stories in universe order. I'm about halfway through now, currently rereading Conflict of Honors (Priscilla & Shan). It's been keeping me very happy. These books are the same comfort level to me as the Pern books. Have you read the Crystal duology? (I LOVE the Tree and sadly, I think that it and Jela are my favorite characters.)

Also, did you know that Sharon Lee = rolanni and Steve Miller = kinzel here on LJ? Sharon just finished the 1st draft of new Liaden novel "Mouse & Dragon ( ... )

Binge Reading mrwubbles June 8 2009, 22:47:58 UTC
Do you stress read too? Or do you close up shop and only read old comfortable favorites?

I usually end up binge reading fanfic, grab a list as long as my arm and just sit down and read, worshipping the glowy, blue screen like it was Hathor. LOL. Usually, I explore a new fandom just for the hell of it. Just because there is nothing more simple and gratifying than finding a new show and just read until your eyes blur white fuzzy haze and your tongue thick as molasses. Books? I random read non-fiction because frankly, past three fiction books I picked up wasn't worth the Amazon free shipping. LOL.

The list above looks interesting though.

How am I finding time to finish all these books this month? Beats the heck out of me. I'm beginning to suspect there's a time turner secretly embedded in my new Supernatural bookmark from Cat's Meow.

Yeah, I'm still mystified. You don't have time at your commute, and you don't have time at the office... you're reading instead of sleeping, aren't you?
