Genre: romance/fluff
Pairing/Characters: Wakato, Kajimoto
Short Summary/Comments: Wakato has something to say to Kajimoto.

Kajimoto sometimes considered their first kiss to be something of an accident, but he knew that wasn't true. That was only an excuse. It occurred on one of those lazy summer days when even the cicadas are too tired to drone properly and the heat isn't so much a deterrent as a force to be reckoned with. A stingy breeze was the only thing that had kept the team from declaring mutiny and getting up and walking off the courts. Well, that and a decent amount of respect for their captain and a touch of healthy fear for their coach who had spent most of the afternoon sunbathing on the edges of the clay wearing a bright red halter top the exact shade of her lipstick and nail polish and shorts that were almost too short to really deserve the title.

Kajimoto leaned his hands up against the walls of the shower stall, letting the cool water beat down over his head and run in slow, soothing rivulets down his body. He felt limber and strong, simultaneously relaxed and energized from practice. The team was improving on a daily basis and it was wonderful watching his friends evolve, knowing that they could move beyond their previous defeats to reach new levels of brilliance.

With a deft flick of his wrist Kajimoto shut the water off and wrapped a towel around his waist, grabbing a second to dry his hair with. He padded barefoot back to the dressing room, shutting lights off behind himself.

"I was starting to wonder whether you were just going to stay in there," the cocky voice greeted him.

Kajimoto turned his head to see Wakato leaning negligently on one of the benches. The red-head grinned and jumped up in a move that was a graceful combination of so many of the characters he impersonated and the slightly catawampus position of his hat offered no further clues as to whom he was pretending to be at the moment.

"I thought everyone had left for the evening," Kajimoto replied evenly, turning towards his locker.

And suddenly Wakato was standing right behind him. "I had something I wanted to discuss with you."

"Oh?"

He shifted, moving so that he could look over his shoulder at his friend and meet those lavender eyes, and suddenly his lips met another pair, warm, soft, parting just enough to deepen it beyond the bounds of friendship.

Kajimoto blinked several times while Wakato smiled slowly, running his tongue briefly over his lips, tasting them.

When Wakato turned and began walking away, Kajimoto's hand shot out and caught his shoulder, stopping the other boy in his place.

"You had something to say?" he finally managed.

Wakato tipped his head to glance back, shrugging slightly with a brief roll of his shoulders. "That was all actually," he admitted before sliding out from under his captain's hold. His gaze drifted up Kajimoto's body, starting at his toes, taking in the toned stomach, the brief sparkle of an earring that glittered in his left ear, and he grinned sinuously.

"You should change before you catch cold."

And with a jaunty wave over his shoulder, the red-head turned and walked out of the clubhouse.

Kajimoto watched him leave and shook his head slightly at the impetuousness of the pretender as he began changing. Maybe next time Wakato would stay a little longer.

Forgive me if the characters are somewhat off, it's been a long time since I've seen the J.S. arc ~_~;;
