Title: Dreamer
Author: Cael
Rating: G
Genre: general
Pairing/Characters: Jirou, brief mentions of Marui, Fuji, and Atobe
Short Summary/Comments: Jirou dreams of competition.

I hear them call me a dreamer when they think that I'm not listening, but then Shishido will call me 'odd' right to my face until Ohtori makes him stop. I wonder if they think that those words are supposed to hurt me, that they're insulting somehow. How little they know.

There's a reason why I sleep so often, so frequently, and it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with how tired I am. The world is more exciting in my dreams; it's as simple as that. People might not understand, though, if I told them what I dream about.

There are those who dream of being the best, the smartest, the most beautiful, but I'm not one of those. Life is so much more fun if you have someone to challenge you, some goal to reach towards, perhaps even to surpass one day in the far future if you work hard enough. Or not. When I close my eyes I dream of bright red hair and can smell the faintly sweet scent of some sort of confection. I can see amazingly blue eyes that slowly widen as the dream progresses, sparkling with a dangerous light that makes my heart beat faster and faster until I can hardly contain myself. Often I picture pale silver locks that swing in the wind created by wide, sweeping arcs of his arm and that tiny smirk his lips curl into as he fluffs it away from his face, eyes shut in satisfaction. The best dreams are when I can make that hair whip wildly and those eyes remain open, burning with an intensity that sends shivers down my spine because then I know that he's playing seriously. I often lose in my dreams to the red hair, the blue eyes, and the smirk, but it's so exciting.

They don't really understand, those people who call me a dreamer like it's a derogatory term. If the real world is mundane and offers no resistance then I'd rather be asleep.

Title: A Photograph
Author: Cael
Rating: G
Genre: general
Pairing/Characters: Seigaku Regulars
Short Summary/Comments: Seigaku takes a group photograph.

Tezuka stood on the far left of the group with Fuji just to his right. The prodigy had instantly claimed the privelege, letting his eyes slit open to show that he was serious about getting his way, but no one had opposed him and he stood comfortably, a pleasant smile on his face.

"Ne, isn't this fun Tezuka?" he breathed, so softly that they were the only two to hear. The fingers of his left hand reached out and played lightly with those of Tezuka's right, out of view of Kawamura who was immediately behind him.

Tezuka didn't answer, but the question didn't require him to. He watched the length of the shadows stretch over the courts and mentally calculated how much time they would have for practice after this was over. He hoped it wouldn't take long.

"Excellent. Now I want everyone to smile on the count of three."

The photographer bent down behind his camera, waving his left hand around in a broad, obtuse gesture to indicate that he was about to begin.

"One."

Momo pushed Kaidou slightly, trying to get a better position in the picture and the other second year hissed dangerously in response. Behind them Inui cleared his throat and both fell silent. The look Kaidou shot Momo though promised that the brief argument would continue as soon as this was over. Momo grinned wickedly, baring his teeth. Bring it.

"Two."

Eiji slung his arm around Echizen and beamed happily at the camera, flashing a victory sign with his free hand. Ryoma grumbled for a moment and wished fervently that he had his hat to hide behind but Oishi had taken it away from him, claiming that everyone needed to see his face. A gentle hand on his shoulder made him look into the smiling face of his vice captain and he sighed in defeat, forcing his lips to curl into an answering smile that bore a distinct resemblance to a smirk. It was the best they would get. Mada mada dane.

"Three."

There was a moment of perfect silence and the camera clicked softly.
