hey, interested how you swung the manic street preachers and made it a free download? have you got a prs license or summat? :)

I don't have a PRS licence, it's prohibitively expensive, but podcasts and internet radio are currently a legal grey area in broadcasting terms (for PRS etc) and my way of handling that is to only use tracks that the copyright owner has made available as a free legal download and therefore they aren't losing sales because if someone chopped the MP3 out of the podcast they would get something that's already legally available for nowt - some people just put anything they like on there, I put stuff I like that is also free and legal. I also always contact the artists I use so they can object and I can remove the podcast if need be. Nobody has ever complained. The Manics, Jamie T, Winterpills and Husky Rescue are all signed acts but all made these particular tracks freely available for legal download as non-DRM MP3s. The first two through signing up to their websites, the latter two through Last.fm
