Are those beds on a patio? I like that idea. How deep are they?

Oh, forgot to add that we used sand in the bottom (I read that was ok). Maybe the first 3-4 inches since they were only supposed to be *6* inches tall. It helped defray some of the cost of compost/vermiculite/peat moss mix.
