I'm not sure you know me, I found this entry on a friends friend-page but to answer
yes. there is a point at which protecting someone is hurting them, if the said activities could result in harm to the person or others around him/her in the near future (imminent risk)then please tell someone who is in a position to stop it
if the activities are perhaps harmful in the long run, but not in the near future then you can wait awhile and see how things turn out
I suppose I'm very fortunate that, in the circle of friends I have, no one is really none-so-swift-enough as to get themselves in a situation too much like that.
I think that there is a line to cross. Especially if it is something that will actually hurt them or if they are into drugs, or thinking about suicide (you get the idea).
I hope it's not anything very serious for their sake.
Yes, there's a line. As most have said, if the person is hurting themselves or someone by doing "their event" or if "their event" is just wrong then tell someone you can trust. I'm sure you already knew the answer to your question, but wanted reassurance that you were going to do the right thing. Find a good friend or family member and good luck.

I know what you mean, it makes you realize your situation, and I wasn't very conscientious of your feelings. I'm sorry. :(
