I wish more people could be as sincere as you in hoping for the best for our country, and not just the best for our respective parties. Unfortunately, the votes aren't even all in and I'm already seeing the early stages of "bashing". But your point is well made.

Let's be honest- for whoever would be president, this wouldn't be an easy way to start a first term. We have a lot of problems right now that party politics aren't going to solve. And if there was a time for uniting to make a difference, it's now.

I think change is what we need, but I think that comes with support from BOTH sides.

Agreed about the "unity" ideal, however, last time that sentiment rolled along was 9/11...and we all know how long THAT lasted....
