Hmmmmm.... So here I go.... So it seems like some people have major issues with This Providence... So I am gonna pull random quotes from random people's live journals, and say what I think about it, okay...

"I'd never been a part of anything like it, it was like a cult, except cool. We didn't have the same views on the world, but it didn't matter" ( Read more... )

Carson you're amazing. it makes me so happy that we share such an intense love for the band despite our other differing opinions. PS TP is HANDS DOWN hotter than Roundabout!!

"or how about those guys that stand in the back of the crowd all the way up until the first downbeat of the first TP song and then they rush at the crowd in front of them like knocking people over..."

Ya, that is me and my friends... I love this band more then you will ever know, i promise... I have been a HUGE fan for almost 2 years now... We love to get excited and go crazy during the shows... People have to realize that these are rock shows... People do get crazy in the "Mosh Pit".... I promise that we never try and hurt people, that is never my intention... Actually if people were to watch us, we are very considerate, and try to protect peopel...hey carson, i didnt mean you in this one.. i think its fun when you and ross and dane are there.. the guys im talking about are total jerks.. you guys dont intentionally try to hurt people and i know that.. hey its not your fault you guys are all about a foot taller than me lol ( ... )

I agree... There are stupid people in the mosh pit... But from my experiences, at almost ever show there are dumb people... But you cant blame the band for that.... There are just stupid people in this world, and it sucks...

yea that was just one of the things that ive been frustrated with.. and i dont like being upset with TP.. because being an original TP fan is something special.. i will never forget that the first show i saw of TP was at Paul's old high school (well the first time i saw them was when they were still T Minus 1 at my old church).. i just feel like theyre leaving what made them popular in the dust.. and that makes me sad..

i'd like to say that I didn't mean anything about you guys either. I thought it was GREAT when you and Dane and Ross started going crazy. It was really neat. But the new people act like asses even when I'm standing at the back of the venue to purposefully avoid them. It's bad enough I can't stand right in front on the stage anymore...but I have to stand 100 feet away and I still get knocked into every 2 seconds, and drenched with water and gatorade. That's what makes me so mad...

I understand what you are saying, and I appreciate your opinion. It's good to get someone elses perspective on such things.

In one of my quotes, I wasn't meaning that they don't appreciate the fans. I was meaning that it sucks that they don't really show it anymore. I mean, take RoundAbout (using them as an example cause everyone else is). If you asked RoundAbout to play an older song, they would play it. Even though their older stuff doesn't properly represent them anymore, they accept the fan-base created from that music. And they play it anyways. I realize that it's just one song, and that it might not represent them anymore, but Contradictions is beautiful. And every once in a while, it would be nice to hear it.

Jessica.

P.S. I honestly don't know if Gavin was being sarcastic about my birthday, but I do know that I didn't take it that way, so it was a big deal for me.

minor note: no one can honestly tell me that the TP guys haven't said bad things about Roundabout. (even if some of it was justified at the time)

Other than that, exactly what I was thinking.

ughhh i'm apalled. i can't believe people have said that about them. i think the boys in this providence are awesome people, i'm not just saying that because dan's my boyfriend or because i'm friends with the other guys. to the people who criticize their performance: it's not an easy job, so unless you are a performer and one day play a PERFECT show SHUT UP!

MaryJane, you should know that I still love all of the guys as people. Notice I didn't say anything about their off stage personas. I love Dan in particular because he's always so nice to me and talks to me at the shows. I think Jessica makes a good point about Roundabout. They have half the band different now, and the sound is different. But they still play the old songs. I know I wouldn't go see them if they didn't play the songs I liked by them. Honestly, I am a performer (abliet a very small one) and I know if someone wanted me to play a song at my show I would make sure to play it, because I care about every person that enjoys one of my songs. I'm sure TP still appreciates their fans, but the fact is, they are going to make it whether we still go or not. They don't have to play perfect, in fact, they usually don't but nobody minds that, we just want to feel like we belong again.

well gosh, i guess i'm just a little surprised to hear all of this. i mean, i never knew so many people were so upset about their song choices. a person can't control their fan base. do you think they WANT 13 year old girls to sell our their shows? i don't think so. yea it's pop rock or whatever and that's what attracts the youngsters but really, they're just doing what they love to do regardless of who's listening.

I actually completely understand your points on all of these. The only thing I really disagree with is about the Missing Page. The new version may sound better quality wise, but the songs itself is FAR inferior. The old version will stay on all my TP mixes thank you very much ;-)
