I would love to, but I have to wait for DVD; where I live, if it isn't Queen Latifah speaking jive to a room full of white folks, they don't want to touch those issues.
It's the same actually here chica. If it'll make money, or if it looks like it carries no sign of intelligence, it comes to my town. That's why I have to go up north or down south about an hour and a half to go watch these films.
wow, i should be thankful, within 10 minutes i have about 6 different movie theatres to pick from. Two which often plays foreign films and other not so americanized movies. Its nice to have so much to choose from. To see those queen latifah type movies i usually have to travel like 20 minutes. I'm counting my lucky stars.
Not as powerful IMO, but like I said, Hotel Rwanda's up there. It's actually pretty darn close to "The Passion" level for me...just with less gore and more...unease.
That being said, Million Dollar Baby is a stunning picture. That film is so freaking good, you can't even imagine...for once, the critics actually got it right, and it has everything in this film. I'm not gonna hype it all up, lol, but I'll just say that its a really good film. Hope you enjoy it, ;).
BTW, I saw The Woodsman today as well...creepy movie. Kevin Bacon as a pedophile. Watching him play this scene with a girl was just...I can't really explain it. Scary beyond belief.
No, Kevin doesn't do anything with the girl...but he asks her to sit on his lap...just the tension in that scene is so disturbing that it felt like...whew, I don't know. Hotel Rwanda no one wants to see, but EVERYONE must see it. See if you're such a patriot afterwards. And Million Dollar Baby is just a solid story with such a wonderful last scene.
