Anyone who makes a cheap dig like that is obviously just feeling insecure about the situation.
Maybe they just feel threatened by you.
Anybody who makes a comment like that to you cannot be a true friend. So I wouldn't worry about it if i were you, they are not worth your time or effort at all.
