I finished my travel book on the way into work and I'm not looking forward to my journey home without something to read. So I'm off to Waterstones after work tonight - but I fancy something a little different - what should I get to keep me entertained?

I'm a big fan of George MacDonald Fraser. In fact, in the end I wander past the library and picked up a few Flashman novels. Oh and a Danny Wallace book. That should keep me going for the rest of the week.

I'm sure you have purchased something by now but for future reference I'd consider Jon Courtenay Grimwood, I do love his Arabesk trilogy. Pashazade is the first one.

Try and find a book called Dirt. Its a history of soil erosion and overfarming and its link to the decline of civilisations

Perhaps Try First and Only by Dan Abnett even if you are not fimilair with the -dooooorky- background material it is well written and engaging

40k is not dorky, it is gloriously absurd.

I'm not sure what the difference is between dorky, geeky and nerdy - but I would agree that is is both absurd and glorious.
