Poem meme

I thought I would post two poems that touched me at a time when I needed them.

This first one evokes for me Sam's spirit after Frodo sailed.

Burning with love
And
Enduring the pain in silence,
I have wasted away to a skeleton
Like a thin red dragonfly.

The second one is longer (but worth reading), so I'll put it behind ( Read more... )

Yes, isn't that one great? Says so much succinctly. The sentiment reminds me of Sam's complete anguish in Frayach's story "Endurance Beyond Hope."

I love them both, but the first one is exquisite. Yes, it's very Sam. I was just feeling like I wanted to throw something at the screen; these have brightened my day and thank you for posting them.

I'm belatedly adding my thanks here. :) I love the image of the dragonfly at the end of the first poem, and how it brings out an edge of transformation from the heart of pain.

And this:
Everything blossoms that can.
Everything blossomed that could.

-- I just hear Sam in that. His love for the Shire, his need for its healing, and the detachment, or disconnection, that comes when Frodo is gone.

Thank you!

Hi, Cara!!! *hugs you* You're welcome! Thanks for visiting here and sharing your thoughts. I am so glad you enjoyed these. You're right about the lines you quoted--there's a matter-of-factness there but also a hint of sadness.

(Sorry for my belatedness in answering)--I haven't looked at my responses in a wee bit....)
