We ventured out to Milford Common. We usually walk a few miles around the woods and over the hills, which is all part of Cannock Chase, but Heather came down with a cold (and her friend Lily probably wouldn't have been happy walking either), so we contented ourselves to find a nice quiet spot a mile from where we parked the car, have a picnic, eat ( Read more... )

I knew it was too good to last; today has turned cold, wet and windy. Makes me even more thankful we made the most of the good weather yesterday.

Pip is very photogenic, but then aren't all dogs?. :)

I see on Amazon that Graham Joyce has a new novel out soon. 'The Year of the Ladybird'. I thought to myself, "That's got to be 1976," and sure enough it is.

1976 was the long hot summer of my childhood. I was in 2nd year juniors and I remember being fascinated by the swarms of ladybirds. They were everywhere. Miss Hughes (my 2nd year teacher) wrote in my report that "Michael is more interested in watching ladybirds crawl up the window than he is listening to me." :D

You shared a longlist with Graham Joyce. Not bad!
