Have liked that poem a long time and am glad to read it again.
My grandfather was gassed in WWI. He survived, but I remember him as an old man sitting up at night coughing. He spent a lot of his night hours that way. His lungs were so bad that the doctors used X-rays of his chest to show students what gas could do to a man.
