Oh, my good God, Lil! OH MY GOOD GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never doubt yourself again dear, not only can you can bring the angst AND the smut but you bring the dark as well. I think I just fell in love with you a little more. I think I'm going to have to quote the whole thing back to you but this exchange;

"...Look at me.” As if he could look anywhere else. “I didn’t mean - ” “You never do.”

Made me hiss in pleasure because it's oh so very true, and no-one, no-one calls him on this shit. Ever.

And this;

"...if he’d known earlier what kind of creature lay curled inside the woman who’d turned him down.

and this;

...not just his wilful ignorance of what’s in front of his eyes)

and this;

“I love you.” He’d never have said it if she hadn’t demanded; he knows she knows this.because yeah, fluffy Ten is fluffy, but he's an arrogant, stupid, wilful bastard as well; also things he's never called on. He's damaged and fucked up even if his heart(s) are in the right place, most of the time. And he does love her, I have no doubt about it ( ... )

I must confess, i had a lot of fun writing dark!Donna. She's one of my new favourite creations. In fact, i had so much fun with her that i'm tempted to rewrite this from her POV as a companion piece.

I think your Ten and my Ten are the same Ten, i really do. He is fluffy, when he wants to be, but he's so full of himself and his Time Lord Curse at times that i just want to smack him. And really, how could you not be, after having seen and experienced some of the things he has? Which is why i love Donna the way i do - she's not a simpering fool like Rose, she can see past his shag-worthiness to the git inside and she sticks with him anyway. And i think, late at night when he can be himself for five minutes or so, he knows that she sees through all his crap and bravado and loves him anyway. That's why he loves Donna; forget about River Song. Donna (and maybe Madame de Sex Pompadour) saw got over the fact that he was an almighty Lord of Time and went looking for real Ten ( ... )

It bloody shows! I think it works so well because Donna has that dark capability. Yeah, she'd probably forgive him eventually and understand that he thought he was doing the right thing at the time but I think Donna (well, my Donna at least) would need a little time to process before she got there, because best intentions aside, he took away her choice without really considering any sort of alternative, and I believe her autonomy, her right to live her life the way she wants is everything to her ( ... )

I think so, yeah. I mean, here the issue isn't that he took it away, but that he was going to, and she knew he was going to (and canon!Donna knew as well, the look on her face when she begged him... oh, Donna). She worked so hard and waited so long to find him again and for him to pull that kind of stunt. It's just (if you want my honest opinion) lazy writing on RTD's part, because they characterisation up to that point was a Doctor who needed Donna in a way he hadn't needed anyone prior to her. The Thames and Pompeii are perfect examples of that. So having him wipe it all is just admitting that he couldn't be bothered, or didn't want, to write the storyline in which the Doctor moves Heaven and Earth to fix hi enormous cock-up ( ... )
