iTunes Equalizer window suddenly has monitor size requirements

Oct 30, 2008 20:12

I had to reconnect the Mac Mini to the 40 inch 1080p monitor, because apparently the last time I used the equalizer, I didn't remember to position it correctly before closing iTunes...

The equalizer opens hopelessly off-screen, and I haven't figured out an easy way to retrieve it.

Maybe I could have deleted ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes. ( Read more... )

Binary plist files can be converted to human-readable XML, edited, and then converted back. Apple switched from human-readable to binary because it's faster to parse, which means faster start-up times for apps.

Also from a terminal, try open ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.eq.plist - It'll open the file in "Property List Editor", a pretty shiny GUI that probably lives under /Applications/Utilities/

try changing the resolution to the smallest setting, it might pop up when you return to normal

I didn't try that because the other monitor is also an LCD (1024x1280 - its on it's side) as well, but that's actually a good idea since it'd only be all blurry (wrong resolution) until I changed it back.

I mean, I guess changing the resolution in control panel might have a different effect than changing it by physically switching monitors and having the OS do it for you, but on the other hand I can't really imagine why it HAS to be that way either. Hmmm.

This solution worked for me. I couldn't see the eq window but a shadow on the top menu let me know that it was there so a lower the resolution on the display to the minimum and i was able to pull the eq window down again. later i change my display resokution back to normal. Thanks.

Отличный пост, но много лишнего.
