Re: I have EXACTLY the same problemmymacsucksJanuary 5 2008, 16:33:47 UTC
The freezing was directly related to the sound somehow. Rebooting fixed it, but my initial theory about why didn't pan out.
Strangely, I haven't been able to recreate the problem again since the last time I complained about it.
The only significant thing I have changed is that, having gotten further along in the process of moving, the unit is now plugged into an "Uninterruptible Power Supply" again.
WILD GUESS: Perhaps those 1/120th or 1/60th of a second flickers you sometimes see when the power grid burps / switches / whatever aren't enough to trigger a reboot/power down, but still cause some havoc in the sound subsystem? I used to get the most bizarre results out of an Atari 2600 as a kid by switching it on and off entirely too quickly. This is definitely not a condition I am too willing to recreate deliberately to test that theory, however :-)

Miraculously, sometimes it starts working again...
If anyone has a concrete issue, perhaps the logic board or something, please let me know
