Well, he's more Smollett than Silver, but I didn't have one of them in particular in mind when writing the Captain. =)

Is this something you would like to expand on in the future? Because I could certainly see you doing that, and there are a couple of places in particular I would suggest that for, but I'm hesitant to offer concrit if I don't really know what kind you're looking for.

I like the genre, though, and I was drawn in to the story. Though I have yet to read Treasure Island, I have been researching pirates the last few months and working on my own pirate story. I'm not sure, though, from this piece whether your sailors were meant to be sky pirates (what with the reference to Treasure Island) or if they were just general sailors. That's probably something I'd suggest you flesh out a bit if you were going to expand it. Let me know if you'd be interested in any of my other thoughts - they are probably more piece specific than general concrit, so I don't want to overwhelm you if it isn't something you want to expand.
