THE ROBIN ESSAY

ANYWAY. People with super-powers can't be... measured ont he same plane as people without them. That's it. Call her a meta-phobe if you will but that's it. It's not that she can't respect them, or love them. Just... she can't put them in the same place as normal humans.

On the other hand, the same thing is true of non-combatants. She can love them and respect them, but their lives aren't measurable on the same scales as someone who fights.

So here you have Lady, stuck in some stupid zombie camp. World could be exploding. Dante doesn't care and OH HEY LOOK ITS DADDY. And some little prick is knocking her out before she gets a chance to get the thing that fucked with her head. Not cool. But then... he gives a shit about her.

We don't see much of the DMC world when it's not about to end, but I get the feeling that pretty much everyone Lady had met in the past two years had kinda been like "Whatever. Shut up." except Dante who was like "Whatever. Let's fuck."

But these boys reach out to her. Not just like "so, stuck at zombie camp? Yah me too watch out for the rape :D". They actually, genuinly care about her. And she's like WTF.

Anyway, he's where I was going to re-cap their whole realationship, but it's 2am and I'm lazy. Let's skip to the part with the hot sex.

Oh wait.

Somehow, along the line, Robin has become the one person, possibly ever, that Lady thinks of as genuinely a better person than she is. He is the better fighter. He is morally superior. He is smarter. He has better control of his emotions. And while for the most part, not being the best at things pisses Lady off, she doesn't mind that it's Robin who's beating her because... it's Robin. Of course he's better. He should be better.

And it's not like "I want to do whatever Robin says and I will follow him forever for her is the light and the way" but it is... she'll be happy with whatever he gives her. She won't ask him for anything because she doesn't want to force him to say no. She will never ask about his family. She will never ask about his name. She would love to know these things, but if Robin wants to tell her he will, and she won't ask. Even if she caught Kon and Bart calling him Tim regularly, she will still call him Robin until told otherwise.

So that's where she is. Also, all of this is less soul-consuming than it sounds. It's not something she lies awake at night pining about. It's just sort of... there.

That probably made no sense.
