I'm not naive, just idealistic.

Before this goes on any further, let me just say that I know my position as a fan. We are not their friends, not their blood relations, and we certainly have no say over what goes on in their lives and they have totally no obligation to explain it all to us. We are just people who support them by watching their shows. I get this. I'm cool with it ( Read more... )

I'm still frustrating and trying to figure out how I feel about the whole thing :/

Me too, essentially. Sometimes i feel like i'm all 'sour grapes' over these things, but sometimes i do think that we're taken advantage of. And there's nothing we can do about it.

Maybe my reasoning to letting the actors know is that THEY are in a position to do something to the organiser. LOL

I do wonder if fandom can band together to stage a protest or something.

I wouldn't spend the money. Spending the money means that's something my girls can't do, or clothes my girls can't have, or plans that would involve my whole family. I love the boys, but I wouldn't go to a con and take the money that would otherwise go to my 20th wedding anniversary. I'm happy reading reports and watching youtube clips. :)

See? I'm single with no kids and i'm already complaining about the tickets!

The urge to see the boys in the flesh is strong though. Still is, but it's not like i'm those delusional people who think that they'll take one look at you and fall madly in love and live happily ever after.

As much as I think Jensen is a talented man - I wouldn't spend the money. I'm feeling horribly guilty enough about the money forked over for regular con-tickets and photo-ops. Seriously, I got photo-ops...I think photo-ops are a waste of money, yet I went and bought them.

Part of me thinks that the actors must know that we get gouged at these things - I mean, the actors get paid heaps of money to be there and that money has to come from somewhere. I don't think there's any sense telling them...if they don't know, it won't make a difference, and if they do know, then they already know.

I justified my own actions in AHBL Con 2009 by saying it's a birthday present to myself, and i didn't buy anything big/expensive for the rest of the year. LOL It's a truckload of money, and i think that con goers who go to each con must be rolling in it, to be able to faithfully attend each one.

I guess my reasoning on letting the actors know about how much was being spent is because they are in a position to do something about it. But yes, you are right, they are not idiots. They must know that the money won't drop out of the sky, they had to come from somewhere, and the somewhere is us.

Gah, I hear you.

As I understand it, the actors receive a good percentage of the money we fork out, and that to me makes it worth it, if it encourages them to come back. It's fun, they make a big effort to make it fun for us, and if someone ELSE wants to spend what is essentially my salary to watch Jensen play his guitar, then sure, why not.

I just won't be doing it myself.

Yeah, not so sure i'll be doing that myself too. But as you said, whoever could spend the money to do that is good for them.

We fans knowoo we are being exploited and there's nothing we can do about it.

I know Jensen knows-and it freaked him out! But some is going to a charity? So i guess it's not too bad-if you have that kind of money. I didn't-so I didn't go. My g/f did and said it was awesome-plus it went from 45 minutes to almost an hour and a half in time. I'm glad she went, but I admit I am jealous-lol.

Yup, heard about that! :) Also heard that he wasn't paid any extra for doing the session. While it calms my heart a little, I admit to disliking Creation because man, they suck out all your money!!
