Devil's in the details - The Exorcist (original) review

Mar 23, 2011 17:16

So I finally plucked up some courage - and energy - to watch this movie, and Lake Mungo, on two consecutive Saturdays. I wanted to watch The Poughkeepsie Tapes originally instead of Lake Mungo, but I had the foresight to wiki the movie first, and thought that it's not something I would want to watch with my parents and little sister around.

I have a sudden urge for split pea soup! )

That's the one movie I don't want to see. I know, here I am watching Supernatural about Lucifer and demons, and I'm bugged by The Exorcist. I just think there's some things you don't mess with, and I can't bring myself to watch it.

LOL but the focus on SPN is family, the bond between the brothers. The angels/demons/Lucifer plotarcs is just window dressing, no? In the movie it's the possession that's the main storyline, so t's bound to be different.

And yes, some things you just don't mess with!

LOL maybe the people who watched it then didn't have any precedent; this movie set the standard, so in the way, there's really bound to be better movies in terms of plot and special effects. And I'm with you, i thought it would be a lot scarier.

It was too bad that the director itself was a bit of a perfectionist; there should also have been a stunt double for Linda Blair. I pity her!
