I love you, and I know you did an insane amount of work for Supernatural, and I appreciate them, but can you at least research a term first before bandying it about? Let me screen-cap this so as to have a better explanation. Screencap is credits to
Home of The Nutty
It says there that a Shojo is a "heavy drinker or orangutan". Now, as far as I can remember my animal kingdom, an orangutan is a primate. It's actually a great ape. The name orangutan is derived from the Malay language; 'orang' means person, 'utan' is a derivative from 'hutan' which means forest. You can actually read all about it
here. You can even see the actual pictures of an orangutan.
The reason this caught my attention is that I'm a native speaker of the Malay language, so when this flashes onto the screen, my mind immediately picked out and recognised the word even though it was there for a few frames at most. At first I thought I was seeing things, so I went searching for the screencaps tonight to verify it. And voila!
So unless my eyesight is really worse than it seems, the shojo does not look anywhere near an ape. The picture, maybe, but the Japanese spirit in the episode? More Sadako than Ah Meng (this famous orangutan in our Singapore Zoo).
In other news, I got a twitter reply from Tom Hiddleston!!!! Argh!! *jumps around in glee* I don't know how to screencap the tweet though :( Can anyone help me out in that aspect??
