I have chronic insomnia and wake up EVERY night at 4:30. My doctor says it's a sudden drop in my melatonin level that causes it. The trick is whether or not I can get BACK to sleep, which I am getting better at. Either way, you're going to be a little grumpy through the day, but WILL be able to make it, and should do much better tonight.
Melatonin level? Hmm, I keep hearing about my mood level and now insomnia might be the result of some chemical imbalance. I'm not exactly keeping a food diary, but at the moment I'm keeping track of what I ate, so we'll see if the foods are the cause of my sudden mood swings last week.
