The sound of claps filled the courtyard as the valiant prince Jinki made his way to the queen’s castle. He was dressed in his finest outfits, he wore a royal blue hat paired with a matching jacket and black cotton pants. His shoes were polished to par, as he was hoping to meet and woe the fare prince who lived in the queen’s castle. Dismounting his horse, he sang a happy tune. “My lovely maiden! Will you come down from your tower?” Jinki called up earning no response in return.
“You there!” A voice called out. Jinki abruptly turned around to face a well built man with a sharp blade,” State your name and business.”
“Prince Jinki, I’m here visiting” he replied bowing in acknowledgement, the feather on his royal blue hat blew slightly in the afternoon breeze.
“Do you have an appointment with the queen, Prince Jinki?” the man asked lowering his weapon.
“No, my good fellow, but I-”
“Then leave”
“I want-”
“Leave!” The man yelled making the other flinch. Jinki stared for a moment before turning to his horse and mounting it.
“I will take my leave” He stated before taking the reins, making the horse move and trotted off. The prince left the castle courtyard, passing by a slightly shaken man on his way out.
“Brave hunter you have returned!” The servant said in fake excitement, pain was evident in his face and his voice. The hunter walked passed the man and stopped.
“Is the queen in?” The hunter asked in a slow voice as he stood gravely
“Yes, my dear hunter, I will take you to her now.” The servant walked passed the hunter, signaling the other to follow. They walked up the same path as they did this morning, each step making the hunters eyes turn darker and darken in color. His heart beat fast as he gripped on to the box that contained his wrongs-doing and his fate. Swallowing the lump that grew in his throat, they entered the queen’s chamber. “ I bring you, the hunter my queen”
“Oh, back so soon?” The queen asked as she looked into her grand mirror.
“Yes my queen.” The hunter said with a shaky voice.
“And her heart?”
“Yes madam.” The hunter handed over the golden box that contained the heart of the prince. “My
family?”
“Hasn’t been touched.” The queen replied looking in the box. “Why you are a great hunter. I will be sure to ask for your services again. The hunter bowed respectively, the left leaving the queen and servant alone. She looked at the box with an evil grin before walking to her mirror; a flash of light shot through the mirror, shocking the servant. A pale, glimmering head appeared, with a forest of green smoke surrounding it making the head appear even paler than it actually is. The face was grim, and no eyes appeared in the eye sockets. The servant wanted to run, to hide beneath something, but he could simply just watch in immense terror.
“Lips red as crimson, skin white as snow. Snow White remains the fairest in all the lands.” The mirror replied in a deep baritone voice.
“That can’t be, I have his heart, pulled from his chest by the glorious hunter. It lies here.” The queen replied opening the box to the mirror so he could gaze with his eyeless sockets. The servant stole a glace at the heart, drained of both blood and life and held his stomach in sheer horror. Letting out a witch like laugh the queen shut the box. “With that brat out of the way, I’m the farest!”
“You are mistaken my dear queen, that his a heart of a pig you hold in your hand, not one of the prince.”
“A heart of a Pig?” The queen screamed as she threw the box on the ground, shattering some of the artwork on the top as well as spilling the contents around the room. The heart flew out of the box and landed in the lap of the poor servant who sheirked and jumped up and towards the wall of books. The queen turned violently and stared at the servant who almost fainted. “You there! Clean this up! I have some urgent business to attend to.” The queen turned on her heel and left the room through a secret door.
Kibum put away the last dish, as he hummed his working song. “All done!” he sang putting down his broom. “Hopefully they’ll enjoy it.” He walked over to a large Kettle that sat on top of the fire. Carefully take the lid off, he stirred the mixture and tasted it. Sighing in pure bliss, he put the lid back down. “Let’s see the upstairs,” He said as he put the spoon down next to the kettle. Wiping his hands on his pants he began to walk up the wooden steps, on his way up he picked up a small lantern to light his way. The steps groaned as he stiffed step to step as he made his way up to the upstairs, which turned out to be a bedroom. “Oh look! Nine little beds” Kibum said looking into the room. Nine beds squished themselves into the room. Names were expertly engraved into them, one Taeyeon, another Sooyoung. Tiffany Jessica and Sunny followed stood proud, next to Yuri, Yoona, Seohyun and lastly Hyoyeon. The names were accented with gold paint and excellent flowers.
Yawning the boy went over and sat himself down on one of the many beds, “This sure is comfy.” The boy said setting down the lantern on a small, wooden table; he curled himself underneath the warm blankets as if her were a cat near a fire. Sighing, the boy fell into a peaceful slumber.
“Work was sure hard today.” A female voice shouted loudly.
“Sure was Taeyeon!” Another replied earning a collection of chuckles.
“Wait you smell that?” A different voice called followed by a collection of sniffles and a few coughs.
“Smell what Yoona?” Another female voice called, sounding a tad congested.
“Fire, I smell a fire, Don’t you Sunny?” The one called Yoona asked as their group descended down
a path that lead to their cottage.
“I see smoke.” The one named sunny quietly said, suddenly the group began to run toward their smoking home and pure terror. Two ended up tripping and falling on one another, making other stop to pick them up as they raced towards their cottage.
“Come on!” Taeyeon called as the other eight fell shortly behind. The girls caught up to the other as they made it to the last piece of forestry that hide their home. “Stop,” Taeyeon, who was obviously the leader, called as she suddenly stopped making the others run into her, throwing her off balance making her fall. Not that she minded due to the fact that her face landed in their garden on top of a fresh magic pea plant. Magic peas are very special considering they have faces and taste really sweet, but the leader could never have the heart the eat they so she’s picked up the hobby of simply collecting them. After Picking the Pea she smiled stood up as the others stared at the house, she stared at her pea.
“Taeyeon?” Tiffany asked putting an arm around Taeyeon’s shoulders, “What are we going to do?”
“About what?” Taeyeon asked, her eyes still on her pea.
“The cottage, look!” Tiffany turn Taeyeon’s head to look at the cottage, It look really strange. There were no cobwebs hanging in the windows, no cups pressed against the glass. The house looking inviting, this worried the nine girls.
“Did you guys do this?” The youngest one asked as her wide eyes stared at the cabin, in utter shock.
“No Seohyun.” The one called Jessica replied, “C’mon lets go check it out.” A nervous laugh was heard from the tallest of the group, Sooyoung.
“What if it’s a ghost?!” Yuri asked holding onto hyoyeon, who was slightly shaking in fear.
“Come on you babies!” Jessica stated and began walking, pulling Taeyeon, who gripped her pea tightly. The others followed in Pairs, A slightly peeved Tiffany paired with Sunny, Sooyoung and Yuri, followed closely by Hyoyeon then Seoyeon and Yoona. The group made it to the door; Jessica slowly pushed the door open making Taeyeon push her face into her shoulder. An auditable huff was heard from behind from an aggravated Tiffany.
“Be careful guys” Sooyoung called from behind.
“I will. “ Jessica whispered as she fully opened the door and pulled herself and Taeyeon through the portal. Her heartbeat increased as she took every step, Taeyeon squeezed Jessica’s hand harder as they looked around the clean, dimly lit room. Animals scattered about as the group of nine made their way further into the room, but the girls were to afraid to even notice the jumping deer fly past them and out the open door. The girls stood in the middle of the room for a minute taking the in spotless room, there was not a speck of dust. Not a spider-web hanging in the corners was evident or piles of dishes that needed cleaning. Expressions of shock and disbelieve covered the faces of the nine girls that stood in the spotless room.
“Who did this?” Sooyoung asked earning a series of ‘I don’t knows’. Suddenly, a loud snore was heard from the upstairs bedroom, startling the nine females. Taeyeon dropped her peas and jumped into Jessica’s arms, who shushed her and pecked her voice head.
“It’s a ghost!” Seohyun yelled, earning a hand over her mouth an a incredibly mean look from Tiffany.
“Drop it there’s no ghost up there.” Tiffany stated sharply as Jessica set Taeyeon her feet. The leader picked up her pea and walked over to Tiffany and smiled.
“Don’t be so angry all the time,” She placed the pea into Tiffany’s hand, who blushed at the action, and looked around at the girls. “Who’s going up to the bedroom?”
“Why do we need to go up there?” Hyeyeon asked crossing her arms.
“Because we need to know what’s up there.” Tiffany stated linking her arm through Taeyeon’s.
“Look sica’s already up there.” Sooyoung stated as they all watched the blonde female ascend the stairs. Jessica turned slightly and motioned them to follow, and like a machine, they marched slowly forward, hoping to not make a sound so they wouldn’t wake up whatever was up there. Seohyun shielded her eyes as they climbed up the wooden stairs that cried out in protest. A cry left someone’s lips as they reached the top of the staircase.
“What is that?” Yoona asked as they surrounded the beds that the mysterious creature resided on.
“I have no clue, but we’re here to figure that out.” Jessica stated as she looked over at Taeyeon who was currently clutching on the Tiffany’s side. Frowning slightly she grasped the blankets and tossed them off the bed. A sea of gasps were heard throughout the small space that was their bedroom.
“It’s a boy.” Sunny whispered in awe.
“No, it’s a prince.” Taeyeon stated as she leaned her head on Tiffany’s shoulder and stared at the sleeping prince. Nine pairs of eyes watched the boy until he began to stir, making the girls panic and jump into multiple hiding spots. A loud yawn rang in the ears of all the females making them go stiff as if they were just caught for killing a man. Kibum sat up a stretched his arms above his head; Sooyoung slide slightly out of her spot to watch him as he did so. The position of her hand slipped making her fall and startles the boy. The two stared at each other a moment before the boy asked,
“Who are you?”
“Sooyoung,” The girl asked as she and the others slowly stood up from their places of hiding.
“Do you guys live here?” He asked looking around the room as the girls nodded. “I am sorry, I came in with out permission, I didn’t mean to. I just need a place to rest.”
“You’ve rested now leave!” Jessica stated as she stared down the boy that still sat on the bed.
“Well actually, I was hoping to stay, you see. I don’t have any place to go, but don’t worry I can cook, clean and do laundry.” Kibum said as the others looked at one other mouthing words to each other.
“You can cook?” Yuri asked with a smile of her face.
“Yes, oh ! That reminds me.” Kibum quickly threw off the blankets, got up and ran downstairs. Going to the pot, he stirred the continence; the girls slowly came down and peered over his shouldered. “The food should be done shortly, why don’t you go clean yourselves up.” Kibum smiled at the females who grinned in return before going into the large bathroom to wash up.
