Icon/Interest Meme

This icon is made with characters from Ouran High School Host Club, one of the wicked funniest animes to have come out of Japan lately.  The little crying wee cartoon character is Hunny, and he always compared to a bunny in the anime (because he is a parody of Momiji from Fruits Basket).  It's an icon I made because I wanted to show that I'm not ( Read more... )

An AveQ icon can't possibly need an explanation. That show kicks ass. Okay, my dad and most of the over-50s in my group tuned out after the first chorus of "Everyone's A Little Bit Racist" -- but the rest of us are still quoting lyrics three years later.

I agree with the fact that Fran needs to listen to Avenue Q. I'm sending you the CD on Monday. WORD UP!

Anyway, the icon is from the lyrics of the finale song "For Now". It's a really touching, hilarious song that is sung to the main character, reassuring him that yes life sucks, but life sucks only for now, it could always get better or worse.

"Sex is only for now"
"Your Hair is only for now"
"George Bush! Is only for now"

And after that line, the George Bush line, EVERYONE in the audience, from little kids to blue haired seniors clap and hoot and holler. I guess Avenue Q, a show where puppets have sex, garners a very liberal audience.

Well, since I'm still on a free account, I don't have many icons to choose from, and I'm not sure how interesting my interests are...but hey, go for it.

Clawhammer is a style of banjo playing, also called stroking or frailing (I see a light bulb going off). It's a constant downstroke motion, as opposed to "picking" which looks more like playing a guitar. And if you're watching someone do, the shape of the playing hand vaguely resembles a claw ( ... )

I'll have a go, I guess. I am feeling rather attention whore-ish.

using swear words

Hee. I love this. I might steal it. Who doesn't love yelling out "fuck"? It is such a satisfying, crisp word to shout.

Heh, this reminds me. Thursday I was in NYC walking along Canal Street with a friend, and in one of the shops a bunch of Chinese vendors were talking, and we overheard:

chinese talking, and then, FUCK YOU! and then back to Chinese.

Well, it was funny. You had to be there. But writing it down makes me realize, unfortunately, that they probably wouldn't accept it at overheardinnewyork.com.

I signed up for apocolyptothon and the prompt I got was "Details: Dr. Cox. If there could be deadly diseases, that would be cool. Jordan's cool too, but not necessary or anything. (Please, please, please no baby. Not like, a dead baby, just a pre-baby? Please?)"

I've watched Scrubs, but only in repeats on Comedy Central and Fox, so it's all mixed up. Could you tell me what seasons are pre-baby?

Hmmm. Well, there are now TWO babies for Dr. Cox and Jordan on Scrubs. The first baby was in Season Two, where Dr. Cox didn't know it was his baby until way after it was born, because Jordan was all, woooo, I was whore and I don't want you to be with me just cause I'm actually having your babay and whatnot. The second baby came at the end of last season, and it was really just written into the show, methinks, because Crista Miller, the woman who plays Jordan, got pregnant (her real-life husband is the creator of Scrubs, NEPOTISM RULES!), so they wrote it into the show. The funny thing about this second baby is that it came after Dr. Cox got TWO vasectomies.

So yeah. Pre-first baby would just be Season One, really. Pre-second baby (which could be what they're requesting, because it wasn't a fanfavorite move) would be Anything prior to the finale of Season Five.

Whew. I talk alot about scrubs.
