ah Ryan, you've finally discovered that the issue is not value itself, but the fact that there is no unmediated value.

I've been trying to convince my philosopher friend that I have better taste in music than him for the past few years, and he keeps on pulling that one on me. I've struggled to justify my claims, however fruitlessly.

seriously, though, you'd really enjoy aesthetics - I've been trying to solve questions like these without answers for years, and while it's basically the same as masturbating and reading articles that aging hipsters wrote (probably while masturbating), it's a hell of a lot of fun, and makes for good party conversation.

and i think that the "meaning" (which is not what i would call it, but i think i understand what you're saying) lies in the consequence, not in the action or feeling of suffering or pain.

i am saying that the meaning is not in the consequence, but the way people feel about the consequences.

i.e. "meaning" is meaningless.

and p.s. are not all the things you are listing part of the consequences?

Heads up.

I very well could be in NYC in early February to check out Cardozo. Also playing the ever-popular Jewish Mother-In-Training that I am to see if you've gotten stuff in order for NOLA in May as rooms/flights may be rapidly disappearing.
