much, much envy @ concert band and percussion repertoire. Are you guys doing all originals?? wow, that is so awesome. How do you like Unanswered Question? It's one of my favorites.

i know rhapsody is original, but i don't know about the others. and i have no clue about unanswered question because i get to leave while they're rehearsing it. i'll probably stay one day, but in the meantime we (percussion peoples) are having too much fun.

clapping music's fun but it's hecka hard. and have you ever heard of piano phase tho? it starts out with one person playing a riff, then another person comes in and doubles it. then the second person gradually speeds up until they're a note ahead of the first person, and so forth. it is insane. living room music's gonna be awesome tho. we're trying to get a monitor on stage to look like a tv, but it's really our teacher conducting just off stage. then we're gonna have him bring in a pizza, and then one of the guys is gonna play his part on the pizza box.

wowzers. I've learned Clapping Music before, but the other pieces are all new. How's Living Room Music set up? Why do you need TV's and pizza?

living room music is for four performers who are basically acting like they're just sitting in a living room, with couches, tables, the works. then we just start playing, each person playing two distinct pitches or sounds. one person has a newspaper, another person has a book, and so forth. then when that movement's over, there's some other movement that we're not doing, but then we all just pick up a magazine and act like we start reading, but really, our music for the next movement is in the magazine. this one is called "story" and is based on a quote from gertrude stein "Once upon a time the world was round and you could go around and around on it" or some shindig. the four players each have speaking parts now, based on that quote. and we're supposed to act like we're having a conversation with it. and then my part has some whistling in it, and then that movement's over. and the last movement, we go back to our "instruments", but this time with a different groove. it is tres cool. the tv and pizza are just some of the crazy ideas

glad you had fun at band camp. it has such a bad rep when really it shouldn't. my uncle works at a band camp with his wife. they teach violin and guitar. anyway, so I can't get a myspace or whatever because in order to make one I have to be invited by someone at metro. Is it at all possibly for you to just email me something?

yeah. but now i'm just gonna exploit that like every chance i get, so it'll bet old after the first week of school. but i'll keep doing it after that. and people will tell me to shut up. and then i'll say, "ooh, this reminds me of that one time at band camp!"
