firstly: the pictures you have (ie: from a digital camera) need to be hosted on a hosting site so that livejournal (or any other internet site) can retrieve them from a given source. i recommend setting up an account at photobucket.com. its free and you get alot of bandwidth (space to upload pictures and such)
secondly: once you have your pictures uploaded. you're gonna need 2 codes.
the first one is called an lj-cut. basically, its a link that usually in parenthesis when you look at it in your 'recent entries'. when you click on it it will take you to the 'comment' view and you will be able to see your pictures. the lj-cut is for when you dont want to take up your friend's friends pages because pictures take up alont of space and its rude. so the lj-cut is best. and you can post alott without people complaining about how long it was & for taking up their entire friends page.
the lj-cut code is: (ignore the *'s) *<*lj-cut text"whatever you want to be in the parenthesis in your recent entries
