I recently signed a lease with Jessica and Kevin for a 3 bedroom lower on Webster close to Downer. It has two full bathrooms, hardwood floors, exposed brick, a huge kitchen with checkerboard tiling and a dishwasher, immediate access to a courtyard and laundry facilities, tons of storage space, and highly stylish. Oh, and it comes with free heat too. The first time we toured the place - mind you we ended up signing the lease the same day - I remarked to Jess and Kev that it reminded me of a Real World house. The only excruciating aspect to the whole thing is that I have to wait until July 1st to move in. Considering how eager I am it feels like absolute torture to wait. Still, it gives me something to look forward to in the months ahead. I'll have two amazing roommates, an amazing apartment conveniently located next to everything I enjoy in Milwaukee, and a ton of cats. I expect we'll have a few soirees in coming weeks after we get settled in.
I've been pretty much on the down low the past few weeks on account that I'm saving money and work has been exhausting. I had the pleasure of seeing
tonydanza,
thefuckingvold, and Frejas after a somewhat lengthy hiatus of not hanging with the boys. I also was fortunate to catch the Brewers game against the Reds where they clobbered them 13-0 and hit five home runs in the fourth. I consider it my new quintessential great baseball game due to the excellence of game play as well as the crowd being hot and numerous.
I've also watched a smattering of movies recently, one in particular being
V for Vendetta that peaked my interest most of all. While the movie does have its flaws I do like the message it attempts to convey by means of its controversial agenda. I imagine most people will find such a story - that future London is ruled by a totalitarian government that dictates the lives of its citizens - as being ultimately fictional and farfetched. Unfortunately, the way big government would make decisions for its smaller populous such an outcome isn't all that unlikely, especially if those citizens allow themselves to exchange their personal freedoms for perceived security.
My job satisfaction is at an all time low right now due for many reasons, and I feel like I desperately need a change of pace. It often feels like I work much to hard and long for too little pay and reward, and while I can feel small bit of altruistic glee that I'm making the world a better place by doing what I'm doing it doesn't, however, make up for the lack of sleep and pay. I spent a good portion of my Sunday studying for my GREs and researching schools. A part of me is leaning toward psychiatry, even though it would be significantly longer to achieve comparatively to getting a Ph.D. in clinical neuroscience or something along that path. Most of my delay in returning to school revolves around being indecisive about which path I should take to achieve the means I seek. I issue is complex and not easily answerable, but I must nevertheless come to a decision soon or become a perpetual slave to the pseudo-poverty existence I struggle everyday to avoid.
So, my life is going pretty good for the most part. I do hope Jess and I get a chance to take a day trip somewhere soon. We have discussed going to House on the Rock since I've never been there, but seeing as how expensive a gallon of gasoline is these days we may forgo the trek for something closer to home. Has anyone been on the Cedar Creek Winery tour? Is it worth it?
In any case, I hope everyone is going well. Hopefully I've have more of a chance to hang out with some of you who I haven't seen in far too long as Spring gets fully underway.
