Sadly it's human nature to lie - it's (when done right, natch) one of our best defences against (and sometimes to the advantage of) other people. It's when it's used as something to hurt rather than protect when it becomes a problem :\

yeah, unfortunately thats true-it is human nature to lie. i'm guilty of it just like everyone else. it just makes everything so complicated...

on a much lighter note..you should teach me some cool english slang. i'm going to be in birmingham for the whole month of august and i want to wow everyone with my vocab, even if my fake accent makes them nauseous.

I can try, although I'm not too up on Birmingham Slang (it's a small country, but move 50 miles in any direction and nobody can understand what anyone else is saying). This is a really good introduction to one of the most beautiful, romantic and varied languages known to mankind, although it should be pointed out that most actual British slang is used to describe Very Rude Things Indeed. This is because, thanks to millennia of being exposed to many different cultures (ie. being invaded by lots of countries, followed by us then invading everyone else for the sake of fairness and balance), we are naturally obsessed with finding new words for various parts of the human body and all the noises that they make.
