I, too, am a political liberal who is pro-gun. I've owned guns and shot them at ranges. Gun ranges (especially in Texas where I lived for a few years) are a blast!

I support reasonable gun control, but I think any American who is not a danger to himself or others should be able to own a gun is he/she/it chooses.

This makes me a partial pariah among my leftie friends.

To me it comes down to living in the world the way it is. Not as I would like it to be.
Funny thing is, I still consider myself an idealist.

I agree. I'm as left as you can get but the Constitution says it's our right to own guns. I do believe there should be a long process to get one. Like a drivers license. I know gun owners would never be able to fight our own government but let's say China decides to invade us. It would be pretty hard to go door to door and take the guns away. They would be in for one hell of a fight.
